Aibu to think my baby has different sized eyes?

Maybe we just spend too long looking at each other, but I'm very concerned that my baby's right eye is smaller than her left, and it's all I can see now when I look at her. It's driving me mad and causing me a lot of anxiety.

My baby has one eye smaller. So does my mum and brother. It’s perfectly normal, why does it matter???

Remaker · 09/03/2024 01:42

My DD has huge eyes like her dad and yes when she was a baby it was clear that one eye was a bit smaller than the other but my DH is the same. It’s not as obvious now she’s older as her face has grown into her eyes a bit more.

Humans aren’t symmetrical. I had a friend at school who had one brown eye and one green one. And a former work colleague had one green eye and the other one was half green, half hazel.

sprigatito · 09/03/2024 01:58

She is an absolute smasher, OP. Utterly gorgeous. Especially her huge beautiful eyes! I can't see anything wonky or uneven there at all.

pikkumyy77 · 09/03/2024 02:06

That baby is ADORABLE! Simply adorable! I wish I were your neighbor so I could come over and make a huge fuss over her and reassure you.

SaladIsShitAndWeAllKnowIt · 09/03/2024 03:27

That is a super cute baby. Disney doll cute. Tell your genes: nice work!

GodspeedJune · 09/03/2024 03:37

I can see what you mean (sorry, no pun intended) but this is very, very normal. I remember watching a programme about models and it was saying how symmetrical their faces usually are, ergo the rest of us non-models are not so symmetrical.

MariaVT65 · 09/03/2024 03:54

Don’t worry, mine has different coloured eyes!

AvonleaHeart · 09/03/2024 03:57

I have quite noticeably asymmetric eyes and it never bothered me until both my mum and optometrist when I was a small child mentioned it.

Your daughter is beautiful and please, please don't ever call attention to it.

MyopicBunny · 09/03/2024 03:58

She looks perfect and I can't see a difference.

Can I also just say that when babies are little, you do notice things like this which seem to disappear as the child grows older.

teaandtoastwithmarmite · 09/03/2024 08:12

I can't see a difference at all. She's very cute

skippy2024 · 09/03/2024 08:35

What a cute child.
I look at the pic as the eye shape is differing
Although when grown with hair, it will not be noticeable or look less obvious to you perhaps.

Blobfishy · 09/03/2024 08:56

This is most people. Some it is more noticeable than others. Your baby's isn't particularly noticeable- i only can see because you pointed it out🙂

Nevernottrying · 09/03/2024 09:39

I think when we are over tired it’s very easy to fixate on things and then become a bit overwhelmed. Your baby is absolutely beautiful, you’re a very lucky mummy 😊

DillDanding · 09/03/2024 09:41

It’s completely normal. Everyone has different sized eyes.

Gmary20 · 09/03/2024 09:59

Thank you for all of your kind words about my lovely daughter, I'm feeling much better this morning after reading your comments and I'm now able to enjoy her little face again without worrying!

TheMessiahIsMySister · 09/03/2024 03:55

As everyone else has said, it’s perfectly normal.

Here are some pics of widely-accepted-to-be attractive celebrities looking downright weird when their faces are made to be symmetrical.

This made me laugh, thank you. Your right, none of us are symmetrical, in fact I think Beyonce has the most difference in her eyes here and she's obviously beautiful, and Ryan Gosling is completely different on both sides and gorg haha

She is absolutely adorable. Where did you get her clothes from?

Hat is a French brand, and her little jumper is from M&S, and her coat with the flowers on is from John Lewis.

One of my kids have different shape and size eyes, apparently one is like a football and one like a rugby. Now he's older you wouldn't notice. I honestly wouldn't give it another thought, as even if they are theirs not much you can do. She's perfect

EasterEgger · 09/03/2024 10:15

I have low eyebrows and one eye droops more than the other/is a different shape but no one has ever commented on it.
Facial asymmetry is normal and hers is very mild (personally I can't see any difference between her eyes), she is beautiful.
It's normal to be a bit worried but don't let it ruin your enjoyment of her, they are only little for a short time.

Compash · 09/03/2024 10:19

Is this a stealth boast about your ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS baby?! 😂

Srsly - she has beautiful eyes... 😍 What a little darling...

takemeawayagain · 09/03/2024 10:30

Absolutely gorgeous.

Yes, her right eye is slightly smaller than her left, but that's totally normal!

One of my mums eyes is lower than the other, and a close friend of mine also has a right eye quite noticeably smaller than the other. One of my ears sticks out quite a bit more than the other.

When we have two of something, eyes, ears, nostrils, boobs... They're meant to be sisters, not twins.

scorpiogirly · 09/03/2024 11:11

When my daughter was a baby, one of her ears seems a lot lower down than the other when looking at her from the back which made me feel like you do. She's 5 now and not noticed it since.
