Thoughtful or thoughtless?

DP and I have been together 5 years.

I don’t wear bracelets. I don’t like things on my hands or wrists. I only wear earrings. A necklace on rare occasions.

DP went abroad for a work trip and brought me back a bracelet.

I couldn’t believe it.

It isn't a hugely thoughtful gift, but hardly the end of the world I'd have thought.

Probably thought you’d like it as you don’t own anything like that. I doubt he thought about why you don’t wear bracelets.

I suppose it depends whether he has been told why you don’t wear bracelets.

Thoughtful (misplaced but still thoughtful). He knows you like jewellery, hasn't seen you wear one, thinks you don't own any, so bought you it.

I guess I wouldn’t have thought to buy jewellery for someone because I’d never seen them wearing that type. I would have thought they probably don’t like it as they’re perfectly capable to buy their own bracelets! But that’s me

Didn’t really have a specific answer, tbh. Just saw it and thought I might like it and that it was difficult to find anything to get me in the places he’d been

This is strange. You put his clothes on the lawn because he bought you a bracelet? I have never put anyone's clothes on the lawn because I don't like a gift they have given me. Gifts sometimes don't hit the mark. Mine sometimes don't. yours sometimes don't. Everyone's sometimes doesn't. People don't put people's clothes on lawns because of this, they really honestly don't.

Sometimes it difficult to buy a gift abroad. Does he or she know you hate them. Not sure whether or not up live together but,if not, it can be difficult to notice these things.

Lots of people wouldn't really buy themselves jewellery, though. Almost all of my jewellery was a gift from someone. Also, I think if you (like most men) have never worn a bracelet it might not occur to you that someone even could dislike wearing bracelets.
