to think it is a joke that banks try to lend you money when you have no way of paying it back

so far today I have got a bank loan and a credit card. ffs I don't want a bank loan(haven't signed so can cancel) and haven't a clue what good a credit card will be.

we have a O/D and we know it will be cleared when dh goes back to work. we have a bank loan that finishes in september
bank lady says it will be cheaper to take aout another bank loan.
I told her I am a SAHM/Carer and dh is not working at the moment.
yet they want to throw money at us.......

why is it a joke?they are a business trying to get a customer to avail of their service.

No, it is responsible lending by the banks which has got us into the credit crunch we are in at the moment.

It is annoying when someone is trying to coax you into doing something that would be bad for you. Though in the end it is down to the customer to say no.

If you didn't ask for the bank loan I suspect it hasn't really been put through anyway. Not until you agree.

It does seem daft if you can't afford to pay it back, but they figure they can mostly get it back with baillifs etc somehow.

Also sometimes they make an offer and if you say "yes please" THEN they say "sorry you're credit rating is not good enough - thank you for applying"

Just say no. It's up to you to work out whether or not you can afford to repay a loan - you have to take responsibility for your finances can't expect the banks to spoon feed you. If you know you can't pay it off then don't take the loan/credit card/whatever.

if you haven't got any spare income and can't pay it back you simply say no. if you decide to say yes then be prepared for heavy interest rates and debt if you can't repay it. the banks are not your parents or legal or moral guardians.they have no responsibility towards you to protect you from yourself.much in the same way if you can't afford £100 for a pair of jeans don't buy diesel/boss etc go to m&s or wherever and get a pair you can afford.

thing is dh and I are sensible. we think about and say no.....But it it is very easy to see how people are sucked in.

oh no i wasn't suggesting you were seriously considering it otherwise you wouldn't have called it "a joke". i was using "you" in general terms to refer to anyone who would do this. not you specifically,sorry for any confusion.
