What is the point of breasts?

Kjones27 · 07/03/2024 20:07

I have absolutely massive breasts. They are huge. And I'm only five foot 3.

They are so heavy. They are so hard to dress. I considered a breast reduction at one point but I decided I couldn't put myself through the surgery.

They are so heavy and huge.

And they just seem utterly pointless..their main reason to exist is to feed babies. I have never had children and never will have any. I don't want them.

I just think what's the point of them. I'm sure I read somewhere that most mammals only develop breasts after they have children.
That humans are very unusual to develop breasts and keep them for life.

Evolutionary biology suggests we develop them to attract a mate. When we were on all fours our backsides attracted males. When we started to walk on 2 legs that became awkward so we started developing breasts, whuch were more convenient, being on the front.

That's the funniest thing I've read all day.🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪

Kjones27 · 07/03/2024 20:37

I can't sleep comfortably on my front either.

Anyway I know people have worse problems than big boobs. I just felt like coming on and having a moan after my back pain today.

Yeah and it's always the poor women that seem to have to suffer the bad designs.

I think there are some bad things for males too. An ex of mine had really massive shoulders that hurt him and I think being too tall can be pretty uncomfortable as well.

I've read it before somewhere though.. I think is a scientific evolutionary theory of why women have breasts.

External balls. Utterly insane (and frequently painful). It's not all shits and giggles for men either.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 07/03/2024 20:39

Some peoples fat doesn't go on the breasts as you get bigger either. My weight has varied by 5 stone and my breasts didnt change size. I'm currently 5 or 6 stone overweight, and only a 40C. I have congenital symmastia too, so they look even smaller as theres no cleavage.
My sister is a size 20 and completely flat chested.

How could I have forgotten balls!

It makes sense as the sperm are stored out of the body but also leaves them in a vulnerable position.

Kjones27 · 07/03/2024 20:42

I'd take balls over giant boobs honestly.

They wouldn't cause pain on a day to day basis. Only when you get hit in them.

I went to a doctor about my back pain, and he said its because of my breasts. He gave me posture stances to try.amd painkillers. I try to take the painkillers only when it's really bad. As I don't want to be on them every day

Size often depends on your BMI, they’re fat storers.

My cup size never changed when I lost 4 stone. Just the measurement round.

I think you said you wouldn't want a breast reduction but have you considered it? If they incapacitate you this much it might be life changing.

There was that man with giant balls though. They were massive and pendulous and hung to the floor Sad

You should spend more time reading journals.

Just like your breast tissue has nothing to do with how much milk you produce.

I know that. But my question is why are there not more milk ducts in bigger boobs?

OneMoreTime23 · 07/03/2024 20:45

baileybrosbuildingandloan · 07/03/2024 20:42

As the cup size is proportional to the band size, if your band size reduced but cup size didn’t, the volume of your boobs did too.

RosyCheekedandRobust · 07/03/2024 20:45

I've spent my whole life looking for shirts and blouses that fit my shoulders and also fasten over my boobs but no such thing exists.
I breastfed and obviously that was handy but now I'm perimenopausal and get a premenstrual ache in one boob that radiates down my side. When I have it the seat belt of my car really hurts.
All in all my boobs have been useful for a small percentage of my life and a complete nuisance for a big percentage of it so I agree with the OP.

underthebun · 07/03/2024 20:46

I think it's more genetic & where you store your fat. Big boobs & small frames just run in my family.

Rosestulips · 07/03/2024 20:46

RainbowZebraWarrior · 07/03/2024 20:12

It's ro do with the number of milk ducts, not size. You either have eight or twenty I believe.

What really? 8 or 20? I must have 8 as my boobs didn’t make much milk

JamSandle · 07/03/2024 20:43

I can't see myself doing it honestly. I'm so afraid of surgery.

I'm a size 12-14. I'm going to try to lose a bit of weight first to see if I can try and get my boobs down a bit.

Because they aren’t related. It literally doesn’t matter how big the boobs are. The milk ducts don’t develop because of how much fat is stored.

I'm small framed big boobed. I don't know what evolution was thinking!

I'm very jealous of my friends who had lovely little boobs, and grew a spectacular pair whilst pregnant/breastfeeding, which then shrank back down again once finished with. This seems like a very sensible system.

This would be the sensible solution, bit those who had big ones to start with clearly didn't face enough survival issues - they didn't reduce the chance of successful mating or of fending off death, so there's no evolutionary advantage to convenient breasts.

What it shows is that men do and have always loved breasts of different shapes and sizes.

underthebun · 07/03/2024 20:48

@JamSandle it spans 4 generations in my family, a strong gene! 😆

Namechanged4obviousreasons · 07/03/2024 20:48

What’s the point of this? It’s clear that we get a lot of our features and traits from family as it’s passed down and this happens when people choose to breed with us. If no one found us attractive, everything we are would die out.

Men also have issues with their body. My father is 6ft 6 (women love to breed with tall men) and he’s had years of pains in his joints and back, he is more at risk if he’s had an operation, he statistically likely wont live as long and it was a huge source of embarrassment for him as a child and teen, when his peers were shorter.

Men suffer balding more frequently than women and the embarrassment that can come with that (for some men).

We are all dealt a different hand and we have to either get on with it or try to find a way of changing it. Comparing men to women and suggesting we’re more hard done to, is just a bit childish. We all have our own cross to bear.

merrymelodies · 07/03/2024 20:48

I had a breast reduction and honestly it was a fantastic decision. Recovery was fast and not too painful. The relief of not carrying around all that weight was exquisite!

Kjones27 · 07/03/2024 20:49

I wonder if my big boobs give off an evolutionary signal to men:

Come mate with me, you'll have grand healthy children, I could breastfeed lots of children!

Then they will come over and talk to me and find out that I don't want children at all. 😂

Evolution and genetics _you are strange.
