BBC Breakfast ( children )

Zaxi · 07/03/2024 07:56

I want news, I don't want children singing, I didn't even like going to my own dc school assemblies (I went, and told my dc they were wonderful but you have to go to those)

Now they're interviewing the Matilda actress, I've had to mute it.

This should be on ITV not BBC

Put BBC News on instead then.

user1471517900 · 07/03/2024 07:58

Yep I agree. There's a channel literally called BBC News.

Sandytoxic · 07/03/2024 08:00

I prefer a few minutes of children singing to Trump giving his wee fist wave, violent murders, or asking the people in the street what they think of XYZ.

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 07/03/2024 08:01

BBC Breakfast isn't just news though - it never has been.

ChocolateCroissantCafe · 07/03/2024 08:01

Breakfast shows always have a magazine element, though, don't they? It happens to be Matilda, but other days they've got a reporter out in towns who are hosting a weird festival, or whatever else.

MagnoliaBrown · 07/03/2024 08:02

What! Does BBC news not just show BBC Breakfast when BBC breakfast is on??? I've always just sort of assumed it did! ShockShockShock

Zaxi · 07/03/2024 08:03

It was the singing that really got my goat this morning though.

Can't watch BBC news as they don't do a local news and it's annoying

If you want fluff, then it's itv

OP posts:
Geebray · 07/03/2024 08:05

This is like complaining that BBC News isn't fluffy enough.

BBC Breakfast is a magazine show. There is a whole other channel for what you want. Just turn over for the local news, it'll be on at the same time every day.

crumblingschools · 07/03/2024 08:06

Can’t you just turn BBC Breakfast on when it is time for the local news report or just look at the website.

Sandytoxic · 07/03/2024 08:13

My annoyance with BBC Breakfast is that the screen is so busy! There's a background screen which has water moving, then there'll be a graphic inset, often also moving, and a presenter who has to stand beside it and wave their arms about. Oh, and the odd whole studio shot, as if to prove that yes they do actually have cameras! In a TV studio!

Samcro · 07/03/2024 08:14

the "singing" was terrible

waterlellon · 07/03/2024 08:14

It's been like this for ages. There's always someone doing something charitable etc or kids. It's not about news

Ineedanewsofa · 07/03/2024 08:16

I generally have to turn off anything where they are interviewing kids - I find it massively cringy and it makes me very uncomfortable. This was no exception!

Zaxi · 07/03/2024 08:16

Fluff shouldn't start until at least 845

OP posts:
Pepsimaxedout · 07/03/2024 08:19

I thought the news channel just showed the same breakfast show as well. Does it not?!

waterlellon · 07/03/2024 08:22

If you're up early - I think its 5 ish they have business news on the news channel

CrispsandCheeseSandwich · 07/03/2024 08:24

The bbc news channel shows bbc breakfast as well, it's the same thing.

I agree OP. I don't know why they think people watching the news channel at 8am want that crap. I want the actual news.

TinselSniffer · 07/03/2024 08:57

It was even worse during the pandemic, plinky plonk sad piano music over every film and daily sentimental hero worship of an old man walking round his garden.

And that boy who lived in a tent

IwishIcouldfinishabook · 07/03/2024 09:03

The thing I hate about all news now ( ITV are worse, but I dont think the BBC should be doing them at all) is the vox pops. Who cares what someone trying to do their shopping in Bradford thinks about the budget?
Someone accosted DH and I in the park once for a vox pop to talk about Teresa May. We both gave our opinion that made no one cared about. I made the cut, he didnt!

KimberleyClark · 07/03/2024 09:06

Listen to The Today Programme on R4 instead.

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 07/03/2024 09:09

So many people are acting like they're being forced to sit and watch a programme they hate.

Just turn it off 🤷‍♀️

Goforitagain · 07/03/2024 09:14

It's not the sort of programme that you would just sit there watching the lot is it, I use the charity and non interesting bits to get on with stuff, sometimes I pause bits and then ff through other stuff.

ilovesooty · 07/03/2024 09:18

Listen to local news on the radio then.

waterlellon · 07/03/2024 09:19

Ah maybe thats the point. To get you to hurry up and get ready
