Big Hairy Beard

My DH of five years (been together 14 years) has grown a great big long bushy beard and I absolutely hate it.
I hate the way it looks, I hate the way it feels and I hate how it gets food in it.

Dont get me wrong he takes care of the thing (it’s a very groomed beard) but I hate the thing. It makes his face look very hard and it feels disgusting when he kisses me. It also gets wet if we are waking out in the cold. He now gets really upset because I avoid kissing and being intimate which I feel bad about but I just had it.

Pre-DC I honestly would’ve considered divorce over it (sounds pathetic but I can’t imagine not being intimate forever).

However I truly do believe he should do what he wishes with his body. I’ve merely told him I’m not the biggest fan of it and he looks better without it. He however is truly attached to it (it’s the work of two years worth of growing and styling) and is saying he’ll never get rid of it.

How do I accept the damn thing? It’s just right there on his face? I know I’m awful but it’s just so hairy and covers up his face (which is a nice face!) but he looks quite hard and bit scary with it.

Is having a beard a necessary part of being a lumberjack?! 😆

My DH ha s had a beard for 30 of the 34 years we've been together.
I love it especially when he kisses and snuggles my neck and his beard tickles ...ooh
I love bearded men!

I was always a clean shaven gal and probably still am. Started casually seeing someone with a beard and I loved it would just sit and stroke his face and beard and it suited him and I found it really hot. Its definitely not something I would normally go for at all

I think beards are one of those things you find attractive or you don't and if the beard has arrived on the scene post initial attraction then you'll have to tell him.
I'm completely with you btw.

Did you know this would be the outcome when he started ?

I've had to go through this, except it wasn't groomed. He just looked like a homeless version of ZZ top.
It was a shame because I still love him, but was feeling like he didn't give a shit about looking nice for me. His response was that he never criticised my appearance. This was true, but I always kept myself clean and took care of my appearance.

Exactly this. My ex husband grew a beard years ago, when we were still together.
I'd never gone out with (or even kissed!) a man with any kind of facial hair besides short sideburns. Because it didn't appeal to me in the slightest.
This beard was dreadful. Not trimmed or tidied up in any way, shape or fashion, it was about five different colours, and quite frankly, it looked like it had things living in it. And it put at least ten years on him, looks-wise.
I have asthma and l couldn't go near it, the look of it made me wheeze. It just looked so scruffy and dusty.
My fault, of course, for being 'ridiculous'. According to him.
If l'd wanted Grizzly Adams l'd have married him. I didn't.

My mum fucking hates beards cos her alcoholic violent ex husband had one (not my dad, her 2nd husband). My stepdad has never been anything but clean shaven as a result

ALPHAFEMALESINCEBIRTH · 03/03/2024 20:13

i have a form of pogonophobia, this would be my worst nightmare
im not scared so not a phobia
it just turns my stomach if i see a man with one
i physically gag and feel repulsed and has been know to do it right in front if i walk past a man with one
its a naturally response for me i cant control it
my dad(early 60s)has always had to be clean shaving becasue ive been like it since birth apparently

my ex partner(ive only ever had the one long term partner of 22 years) having even a bit wasn't happening
he understood and never went 2 days with out shaving

watching films and tv is even difficult for me

back to your post as you said you don't like it and its been ignored that shows no respect for your feelings and i wouldnt been dismissed so easily
