To think this is vile (hotel room)

We've come to a spa hotel for one night. There is 6 of us so have spent over £900 on rooms, treatments and in the restaurant.

I ran a bath once back in the room and realised the plug hole is literally filled with other people's hair 🤢 (the pic doesn't show how much is actually in there)

Would you complain?

@MikeRafone did a stint as housekeeper in few 4* years ago. I always take my own water bottle into a hotel room and wash any teacup etc if worst happens and I need to use it.

Scottishshortbread11877 · 03/03/2024 08:28

£150 per person for room, treatments and restaurant bill is not that much. You've added £900 to make it look expensive but it's between 6 of you! Yes, it should be clean though, just call reception and ask them to please send housekeeping?

Sunnysidegold · 03/03/2024 08:42

Just ring reception and ask for housekeeping if it bothers you?

I agree it's a bargain price but doesn't necessarily mean it's a cheap hotel, op has managed to snag an excellent deal maybe!

Call reception, get it sorted and enjoy your bath. Don't let it be ruin your stay

Basilthebad · 03/03/2024 08:44

sounds a bit four in a bedish to me. Any pubes?

Rainraindontgoaway · 03/03/2024 08:49

Why are you inspecting the plug hole anyway, you on Four in a Bed?

GandDiva · 03/03/2024 08:54

I'm currently staying in a "luxury" city apartment. The drawers and wardrobe are full of the owners things, the toilet, sink and shower are filthy and the fridge and kitchen cupboards are full of out of date food. Owner ignored my message and call until it was too late to sort it or find somewhere else.

I don't think I'd have been bothered if it was the same amount as in your picture but it was the soap scum too that did it for me here 🤢

pictoosh · 03/03/2024 09:00

Would I complain? Probably not. Complaining is more hassle than fishing it out with a bit of toilet roll and throwing it in the bin.
The inconvenience of some hair doesn't trump the effort or time to complain or have someone else come over and put it right, so logic dictates.

Onl · 03/03/2024 09:06

I wouldn't like it either OP. It doesn't matter if it was expensive or cheap. I think the hair shouldn't be there.

Not sure why everyone is so keen to tell the OP that £900 is cheap. When you've no idea where it is, what type of place it is and how many are staying in each room. I also don't see what it matters if it was cheap.

I'd mention it in passing to the hotel.

Devilshands · 03/03/2024 09:45

sintas · 02/03/2024 23:44

£900 for 6 people on rooms, restaurants *and treatments sounds like a real bargain per person.

I wouldn't complain if the only fault is a few hairs in the plug hole.

This!! Spas’ near me are £300PPPN.

Also YABU for thinking that any hotel rooms (spas/B&Bs etc) are ever properly cleaned. They do the surface. Nothing else. Sometimes not even that!

900 for 6 people, including room, meals and spa treatments is cheap anywhere.

and who examines the plug holes for hair, it’s not 4 in a bed.

bornak · 03/03/2024 09:59

I wouldn't complain, no. I don't give too much though as to what goes down the drain. So long as the bath/shower are clean then I'm good.

£150 is at the very cheap end of the scale for room, treatments and food though.

tanstaafl · 03/03/2024 10:09

OP, you need to raise your game.
Buy an ultraviolet torch to use in dark hotel rooms and bathrooms.

Zaxi · 03/03/2024 10:14

That's £150 per person, so for room, food and treatments, that's bloody cheap.

Are you sharing rooms?

Icantbedoingwithit · 03/03/2024 10:43

Just ridiculous. If there were spiders legs pubes pepper sprayed all over the bath you’d have a problem.

Saschka · 03/03/2024 10:50

Ginmonkeyagain · 03/03/2024 07:56

I hate to break it to you but all baths and showers will have hair lurking under the plughole.

We have once of those push down plugs in our bath and every month or so I remove it and use a brush to pull out a huge wad of hair lurking just below the plug.

We have a Good Grips hair catcher for exactly that reason - I have thick long hair and honestly it catches huge clumps every time I shower. I shudder to think about all that getting stuck down the plughole.

Do you know what literally filled with means?

FabFebHalfTerm · 03/03/2024 10:54

KimberleyClark · 03/03/2024 06:39

Why? Do you feel the same about the toilet?

@KimberleyClark

i just don't find the idea of sitting in a hotel bath, that may not be clean at all relaxing.

No the toilet is fine, I'm not sitting in the water, just the backs of my legs on a seat.

Momstermunch · 03/03/2024 10:54

Sure as eggs is eggs, when a mumsnetter describes something as 'vile' it is a complete non event. Slightly grim at most.

Alwayswonderedwhy · 03/03/2024 10:55

Just because it's cheap doesn't mean it shouldn't be clean but I've had worse in hotels. If the rest of the bathroom is clean I'd just stick the plug in and get on with it. Mention it to the staff but budget hotel's aren't going to be cleaning plug holes after ever guest.

Itsabouttimeformetogetonthefloor · 03/03/2024 10:58

Other people’s hair is my number 1 phobia, I’d die - obviously YANBU

zingally · 03/03/2024 11:00

I can literally see maybe 3 hairs. If that.

Personally I'd have put the plug in and got on with my bath.

Honestly, I wonder how some people make it through life sometimes. We're human beings, we have bodies, and sometimes bodies shed stuff and are a bit gross. If you NEVER want to encounter the evidence of another body, a sterile white box might be better for you.

And £900 for six people, accomodation, food and treatments is a bargain! £150 each for a night away, a few meals and some spa treatments is a really good deal!

mynumerouno · 03/03/2024 11:03

I wouldn't even think to look in the plug hole!

I wondered if @Biggybigbiggles and @FabFebHalfTerm are you both the op, having changed name perhaps?

I would expect it to be clean but hair is just hair and you do get worse floating around in a swimming pool.

Have a lovely holiday :-)

Yes complain and give them a chance to rectify the issue
