Any hairdressers on here? Skin has gone red after hair dye allergy test

I went to the hairdressers for an allergy test and had some put behind my ear, I just noticed that the area behind my ear has gone very red, although it's not itchy or sore, and there's no texture just redness.

I've dyed my hair several times at home and once at a salon a few months ago and never noticed any redness or irritation before, but to be honest I never really look behind my ear as you can't really see behind there anyway. When dying my hair at home I use the crook of my elbow so I can monitor it and have never had any reaction.

I probably wouldn't have noticed the redness either I just happened to look in the mirror at the right angle and with my hair in a ponytail which allowed me to see it.

Does this mean I can't have my hair dyed and need to contact them?

I wouldn’t as that is what the allergy test is for, to test for a reaction, allergies can develop when you haven’t had one before. Speak to the hairdresser, they may have a different formula they could test on you.

@Miyagi99 Thank you, I spoke to the hairdresser after posting on here and they said I can still go ahead or they can try a different formula so I've decided to have an allergy test with a different formula. Finger's crossed it's ok as I'd hate to never be able to dye my hair!

It's still red but has gone down a bit
