Hi all posting for traffic

Was trying to sell something on facebook marketplace. Someone messaged straight away asking to buy it. I said I prefer cash and they said they can do it via Paypal. I sent him the payment request via Paypal and then realised it has my full name, email and home address under "about this business"

He said he sent the payment, and when I said I hadn't got it he just vanished. Is there anything I can do now? What could he do with my details? I'm so worried now and feel stupid

I guess my question is, is there anything I can do at this point or do I just wait?

I realise they could take out bank loans in my name. Paypal wont do anything obviously as no activity on the account but i dont think the scammer cares for that, he only needed me to send him the link in order to get my name and address

Anyone could get your name and address though, and I don’t think a bank would accept a loan application just with those details.

Was it an expensive item? With him saying payment was sent, I’m wondering if he was going to send one of those fake screenshots saying payment had left his account and hopefully collect the item free.

Thank you @GiantFootTinyHead it was £50, he ended up asking me to upgrade to a business account and said something like "im going to send 150, you need to send 50 back" Paypal warned me and said thats a common scam so ive blocked him and learnt my lesson!

I've just had this today! Put a post up on FB Marketplace. Within 1/2 hr this 'woman' replied that she wanted it and would pay the full asking price. She wanted my email to send payment via PayPal. I googled and found out that it is possible to pay people that way, so gave her my email. She then said she'd sent payment, can I check. The email said that they'd tried to pay me but I didn't have a 'Business' account and needed to ask the buyer to send another £300, which I'd have to refund them once funds cleared. This didn't sit right with me. I googled and low and below, it's a scam. I msg her back and she told me that her money is now stuck, can I screenshot the email I got. I just copied and paste the basic msg and told her cash or nothing. She replied, implying that because of me her funds are stuck. I said 'Sorry, not my problem'.
