To ask for your Chinese order

Pretty certain that 99% of households order the same thing each time, and I’d like inspiration to branch out and become the 1%!

In my household:

Special chow mein
Chicken with ginger and spring onions
Crispy shredded beef
Egg fried rice
Seaweed
Veg spring rolls
Tub of satay sauce!

I'm really boring, I get a curry either pork or prawn, chow mein. Prawn balls or prawn toast. Peking duck if feeling flush.

Realising I sound like a wanker but I like some mix of fish fragrant aubergine, sichuan beef in hot chilli oil, stir fried egg and tomato, stir fried potato, smashed cucumber and garlic, ginger green beans and fried rice.

I also like duck and pancakes.

Which is to say, if you really want to branch out… order off the Chinese menu. 🤣

I must be chaos as I order something different every time!

DH has sweet and sour Hong Kong style and egg fried rice (I’m not a fan, too sweet for me)
DD7 loves duck pancakes
We all share salt and pepper chips

Then I will pick something - just checked our last order and I had Thai green curry.
Im also partial to crispy chilli beef, salt and pepper chicken, chicken in yellow bean sauce with cashews, satay chow mein, chicken in lemon sauce Etc.

I have the most boring order but it’s still my favourite take away.
I have crispy seaweed
soft fried noodles and sweet and sour sauce (although I can take or leave the sauce tbh)

Prawn crackers

I had Singapore vermicelli for the first time the other week and it was amazing!! It’s my new favourite thing.

I love a “teenage”Chinese ie chips, curry sauce and fried rice.

Yeah spicy thin noodles. It’s yum.

Some places do a really good <insert dish> which isn't like the one you get anywhere else. In my case it was Chicken with ginger and pineapple. I found only 2 takeaways that did it "that way".

I've also find different parts of the UK have different varieties of dishes. Scottish Chinese menu is often quite different from midlands or Wales, say.

I wouldn't worry about varying your order unless you're really bored with your usual.

Gosh you’re all very adventurous! I’ve genuinely been getting satay skewers with egg fried rice since I was about 12.

Only recently branched out to try salt and chilli chips! Chicken balls dependent on where we’re ordering from.

My eyes are often bigger than my belly when I see the Chinese menu.... sometimes I get 2 meals, eat 1/2 of each and finish it off the next day

This is to share between the four of us.

I'm vegetarian and either get a veggie chow mein or boiled rice and vegetables in satay sauce. Dh gets chicken chow mein every time. And we get Spring rolls to share.

Salt and chilli tofu, fried rice and a pot of curry sauce.
