Is this a general thing for most people..or just me 😅
Looking back at past post/memories and pics and I used to get 30 odd, sometimes 50 ish likes, nowadays if I do a post (quite rare) it’s about 7 🤣
Doesn’t bother me, just made me think. Is it since stories? Do people really only look at those now?

The more you post the more you are pushed into others feeds - I see about 5/6 posts from regular co tributes - those who post occasionally don’t make the list.

Nee algorithms which push adverts over friends posts.

Yippedydooda · 25/02/2024 21:37

@Scarletttulips Ahh ok, I’d say nowadays it’s average once per month on actual posts (not stories) back in 2017/2018, before stories it was lots more and lovely interaction between friends etc, they seems have become much less between people

Scarletttulips · 25/02/2024 21:42

I think people tire of it to be honest - stick with real friends - a lot more fun.

Elphame · 25/02/2024 21:42

I don’t bother with it much now. It’s all ads and it doesn’t show me friends posts for days if at all.

Dogdilemma2000 · 25/02/2024 21:44

The algorithms change frequently. I use it for work and try to keep on top of it. Stories are getting most hits ATM. Before Christmas it was carousels. Before summer it was reels.

rustlerwaiter · 25/02/2024 21:46

Hardly ever see friends posts now, it's mostly random posts. Sometimes DP will ask "Did you see my post?" and I have to go looking for it.

They changed the way they show posts and things a while back. A friend of mine moderates some photography groups and said after they made changes posts "only" get hundreds of likes now when they would have thousands before.

Yippedydooda · 25/02/2024 21:53

@Scarletttulips It’s ok, they are real friends, my page is private. I barely see lots of there’s either, only stories

Yippedydooda · 25/02/2024 21:54

@rustlerwaiter Yes, it’s weird, I quite miss those days back then. It all seems so impersonal now

Read a book.

stayathomer · 25/02/2024 21:58

Same with Fb and twitter (x) - you rarely see stuff from people you know anymore. Sometimes I just go into people’s pages so I can ‘fix’ my feed

Yippedydooda · 25/02/2024 21:59

@Quizine I do both

OP posts:
Yippedydooda · 25/02/2024 22:00

@stayathomer Yes, v rarely see any Fb posts from friends, it’s spoiled it all really as used to be interaction between friends more, now no one bothers

Yippedydooda
It is so sad! Then you go looking and yes most people just aren’t bothered anymore:(

SoEmbarrassed2024 · 25/02/2024 22:06

I'm another one who stopped using it when it became littered with ads and random influencers the algorithm thought I might want to look at, rather than the people I actually knew

Yippedydooda · 25/02/2024 22:39

@SoEmbarrassed2024 Yes exactly, it used to be about friends, now the connection has gone

WildBear · 25/02/2024 22:44

Can't speak for everyone, but In my circle, the friends that persist with social media are the more self-centred ones. Everyone else is too busy enjoying their lives to document it all plus they actually like privacy within their little family unit.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 25/02/2024 22:46

It’s just super boring, there’s nothing really to learn from it, just dull snaps of people’s lives.

How smug and sanctimonious sounding

As a matter of fact, I agree with @WildBear :-)

Take it however you like, I don't care. I do however have a couple of childhood friends who have always been, me, me, me in their outlook and they are the ones that have always used SM the most. I assume they just think EVERYONE is very interested in everything they feel/do/see/eat etc. It doesn't bother me, I just don't read the majority of it as I'd rather be present with my own family, not staring at a screen, and in my spare time, I have my own pursuits that don't involve scrolling and hitting a like button - plenty of people seemingly get enjoyment out of SM as creators and consumers, but it's not for me. I'd gladly go back to pre SM days where you meet with friends and catch up without being told things that you already knew from their feeds.

Jumpingthruhoops · 25/02/2024 23:01

Love IG. But I engage more with Stories than posts.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 25/02/2024 23:07

hothotheatbag · 25/02/2024 23:11

I deleted it about a month ago and this thread just reminded me. I've not missed it one tiny bit.

I'm with you it was literally adverts, but not even relevant to me.

Notherefortheclout · 25/02/2024 23:13

Since lockdown ppl seem to prefer live streams other than watching 'a video' or looking at a 'still' image. Hence why Tiktok has become more popular since,
