Tiresome.

Never met a "GC" person who, when scratched even lightly, wasn't an out and out transphobe.

Many pro Palestinians are, in fact, anti semitic. RW or otherwise. Mostly LW anti semitic.

Sorry that these inconvenient truths are " tiresome" to face. Deal with it and maybe try some honest reflection.

Thank you for illustrating why this is 'tiresome'.

I would agree with this. 👆

Ultimately nobody posting here lives in these areas. It's all just political footballing. Saying this on a forum in relatively safe Europe won't cause a cease fire. If you want to see an end to genocide of human beings, a majority of children then put pressure on your MP. Nobody can think murder, retaliation and terrorism is going to solve these issues by debating theology and the use of slogans. What's happening in Gaza is fucking wrong on a human level. Israel needs to be heavily sanctioned, weakened and Hamas needs wiped out.

Nobody seems to manage critical thinking any more, people just spout the overly polarised bollocks they pick up off social media.

Someone was sounding off the other day about "from the river to the sea", so I asked him which river, and which sea, and of course the fucktard didn't have the first clue. I'm not supporting a Hamas-led Palestinian government, because Hamas is scum, and the current Israeli administration is so awful it needs to go ASAP. I care about the Israeli and Palestinian women and children who have been left to suffer in this war, and the Israeli hostages need to come home.

You are welcome to call me terf and transphobe if you like. Men don't belong in womens spaces though, that's all. Men need to take responsibility for transwomen feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable in men's spaces.

Is it all though? What do you mean by "take responsibility"? Are you saying that transwomen don't belong in women's spaces either? If so, then you can consider yourself a TERF. In most places you would need to be more understanding, if not then you'll end up getting kicked out, and rightly so.

And proceeds to denigate sensible, intelligent people who understand that gender is more complicated.

Such as proclaiming airily that the only sensible, intelligent position is one way.

See what I mean by the lightest scratch?

Edited

But she didn't denigrate anybody.
It's you that doing that.

AccidentallyWesAnderson · 26/02/2024 11:51

The change of the definition of transphobia to suit those who view themselves as progressive is really fucking tiresome.

You mean - from those who don't agree with you? Because it couldn't possibly be your polarised position on anything, because you are right. Nuanced thinking, and the ability to engage in rational and open debate is increasingly a rare phenomenon. It is etirely possible to be concerned about Palestinians and also to be concerned about Hamas terrorism and anti-semiticism. It is also entirely possible to be concerned about women's rights and also be concerned about transphobia and the far right (who have no interest in women's rights anyway).

The OP's very premise screams their own polarised and "tribal" thinking.

Stop being all sensible will you! This is Mumsnet dontcha know. You far right fascist 😁

suspiriana · 26/02/2024 12:16

Concerned about Islamism? "Islamophobe" "Far-right" "racist" etc etc....

Everanewbie · 26/02/2024 12:31

Hi OP. I think you are right. People seem to choose a tribe and stick to the party view. There is rarely much space for for nuance or admitting someone in your tribe is wrong, or someone in the other tribe has a point. Anything inconvenient is fake news, conspiracy and so on. On both sides.

You can roughly trace political party lines over these tribes, but there are a few crossovers, the trans debate being one and you can pretty much guess what the talking heads on TV/Twitter etc. will say before it comes out.

People need to grow up and treat issues on their merit and not according to their tribe orthodoxy.
