At the price it is nowadays it's a treat

PossumintheHouse · 24/02/2024 15:19

Errr yes? Cinema and either lunch beforehand or dinner afterwards is my idea of a lovely day out.

Moveoverdarlin · 24/02/2024 15:19

Yes definitely.

LilBus · 24/02/2024 15:20

yes

Hermittrismegistus · 24/02/2024 15:21

At £17 for 1 adult ticket I absolutely do consider it a treat.

MixingPlaydough · 24/02/2024 15:21

Yes of course it is! Even weekend kids clubs are extortionate so definitely a treat.

LadyKenya · 24/02/2024 15:21

No, I would say that my idea of a day out, is going to the seaside, for example.

WindsChange · 24/02/2024 15:21

It’s a treat for sure but maybe an afternoon out. We are a ND household so have to be clear with the language though Grin.

CheerfulBardo · 24/02/2024 15:22

No. I love going to the cinema, but I wouldn’t consider it a ‘day out’. Or do you mean for a child’s treat.

HAF1119 · 24/02/2024 15:23

A treat/outing yes

I wouldn't say 'let's have a day out' and go cinema, but it might be the only thing we do that day, certainly the only expense if having some food. But a 'day out' I would see as farm/zoo/beach etc for the day

Upsidedowncat · 24/02/2024 15:23

Yes, definitely!

JMSA · 24/02/2024 15:24

If it's coupled with a meal out or something, then yeah.

OldTinHat · 24/02/2024 15:24

No. But only because I have a Cineworld card and can go as often as I like, so it's nothing special anymore.

Vanillaradio · 24/02/2024 15:25

It's not really a day out, more of an afternoon out, but definitely a treat at current prices and not something we can afford often.

lifebeginsaftercoffee · 24/02/2024 15:26

No, not at all. It's a nice thing to do to pass the time for a couple of hours in shit weather, though.

Fionaville · 24/02/2024 15:26

When I take my kids the cinema, we usually have lunch out and go to the shop to buy our treats for the cinema. It's not so much a day out, but as its so expensive now, it's definitely a treat day.

LiquoriceAllsorts2 · 24/02/2024 15:27

its a treat but probably not long enough to be a day out unless combined with something else.

SaveMeTheLabelOfThatPerfumeOnTheTable · 24/02/2024 15:27

Probably not a 'day' out but what is it otherwise?

I mean, it's not staying in is it?

And, yes, at the current cost it's a 'treat'.

LaurieFairyCake · 24/02/2024 15:27

Yes definitely

Was £35 for the two of us to see Uncle Vanya last week

TokyoSushi · 24/02/2024 15:27

A day out? No. A treat/something nice to do - absolutely!

MumMumMumMumMumMumMum · 24/02/2024 15:28

Not a day out, only because it doesn't fill the day. But a treat or something special yes.

Versailles2025 · 24/02/2024 15:28

No I hate it. Too loud. Too smelly. It was okay as a teenager snogging in the back row. A family treat for us. No. I prefer to walk up and down a mountain or round and round a nice lake.

Allthatwegotisthispalebluedot · 24/02/2024 15:29

i love the cinema so yes, definitely a day out! I often combine it with lunch out.

where are you all that the cinema is so expensive? Someone said £17 per ticket! That is madness. In London the closest Vue cinema to me is £8.99 for the most expensive seats for this evening, £5.99 for the cheap seats.

Concestor · 24/02/2024 15:29

No, it's not a day out because it doesn't take a day! It is a treat though, because it's so expensive
