Skincare Routine

I have a really basic skincare routine and just moisturise in the morning (cheap moisturiser eg L'Oreal but with spf), then cheap moisturiser in evening. That's literally it. I use whatever is on offer in the supermarket that I can get for around a fiver.

I keep seeing info about skincare routines and different brands on social media, tv etc and feeling worried I should be doing more if I don't want to start looking haggard (I'm 41) - but I can't help but think it ultimately comes down to hydration and the luck of the draw with genes. I also completely believe that a lot of the overpriced beauty stuff out there is overpriced, branded and unnecessary. I am overwhelmed with where to begin.

My question is what are the absolute essentials? What actually makes a difference?

A cleanser! A decent cleanser that makes your skin feel good. Second to that, I’d say a serum, if you’re happy with your moisturiser. If you’re using SPF then you’re not doing too badly.

it doesn’t have to be really expensive, the ordinary and inkeylist have quite affordable products these days. There’s a lot of choice though.

It’s all down to genetics and lifestyle
not miracle creams.

No alcohol or hardly any.
No smoking.
Loads of water.
Fresh fruit and veg - vitamins.
Moisturiser with a good cheap moisturiser, day and night.
Stay out the sun and wear SPF.
Exfoliate - again can be cheap.
