Company I work for give us an allowance per year to spend on a holiday through them or one of our partners. Has to be a holiday, can't be changed for anything else.

Last yeah it was spent on a weekend away for me and DH as we had a significant anniversary.

This year I need to spend the money by the end of this month but can be on a break after this date. Dh doesn't want to use it on a weekend away, or a family holiday as he thinks the youngest would be a handful (that's a whole different thread, youngest is nearly 2 so still in nappies, naps etc)

Someone at work jokingly said why don't I use the money to take a few days away just myself. I laughed it off at first but then thought about it and the idea is growing on me. Since having DC (8 and 2) I haven't had a break away, whereas DH has had countless weekends away with his friends for football games or just because, I've had a few trips away with work but that's it.

But it feels selfish to spend a not small amount of money on 2 or 3 nights away somewhere just for me - although the thought of uninterrupted sleep and being able tonjust go for a walk by myself also sounds amazing!

Mentioned it to DH and he said do what I want as long as he's not on shift so can be here for school and nursery runs
