Will I get tax back?

Good morning everyone. Just need a little bit of help/advice. I started my job in august and by the april 2024 I will have earned £15,946 and paid £1000 in tax. My tax free allowance is £12570.

Does anyone know if I will be due tax back? This figure seems quite high considering I only earn £1700 a month. Oh and I only started paying tax from Decembers wage, so thats 4 months of paying tax which amounts too just under £1000

Thanks!

You might but not much it should be 20% x 3500 so around £700 paid.

Depends on your tax coding (standard for the £12570 is 1257L) since you joined in August and whether you earned any money prior to August. If you’re on a NC tax code you will have to wait until the end of the tax year to claim back, if any you are entitled too.

I didn't earn any money prior to August and yeah my tax code is 1257L, I seem to be getting taxed random amounts also, 1 month I earned more but got taxed less and vice versa

Check that the full tax free allowance is assigned to this job, ad any previous earnings ((or lack of earnings) are accounted for.

But 700 tax for the year if your 15k if total earnings is about right.
