My husband thinks breastfeeding women should be more classy

He thinks if you are feeding, do not do it in the centre of a food court , try to go to the edges. Choose your seat around the fringe. Preferably near a potted plant. Choose to be discreet. Do not make a spectacle of yourself ( in Parliament),
In a restaurant, don't sit in the middle.
Women should show more discretion and decorum.

Can you imagine going into a restaurant and telling the waiter who offers you a table in the middle that you cannot take it in case it made you indiscreet and indecorous?

Chickenkeev · 21/02/2024 15:35

Pfft. What a muppet.

I exclusively breastfed both children. I do agree with your husband. We don't live in a jungle

Nice, add a bit of racism to the mix.

Whiskeypowers · 21/02/2024 15:36

Genuinely couldn’t be in a relationship with a man that came out with this absolute misogynistic horseshit. It would be the kiss of death for me that he harboured those views and subsequently voiced them.

NO. This is what started the argument. I'm ashamed of him. It's not like him it all, but once he'd said he would not back down and kept banging on about the woman in Parliament breastfeeding. SO embarassing. My adult sons would tell him to stop being a wanker.

Is he just having some sort of a brain fart?

marshmallowburn · 21/02/2024 15:41

So awkward, when your adult children are delightful and thoughtful and your DH isn't. ( he is not their dad). But youngest is delightful and thoughful too!!!

I absolutely agree, natural it is but it gives me the absolute heave and my elderly mum gets embarrassed. It’s such a special part of bonding it does seem weird to me woman aren’t more discreet. I appreciate me and DM and your DH are in the minority though.

Giving you the heave is entirely your problem.

It is not remotely nursing mothers' responsibility to stop ignorant, childish people feeling disgusted or embarrassed.

It's no more "special bonding" than bottle feeding, but I assume you don't have a problem with babies being formula fed wherever is convenient.

Ap24, comparing breast milk to faeces is as ignorant as op's partner

The original comment made mentioned hygiene, as in they didn't think breast milk was hygienic. I know there's is no comparison. It just made me laugh that the PP would be concerned about BM and not all the other disgusting stuff that ends up in public pools.

This is a possibility , but he's stuck with it now and stormed off. Truly running with it! ,who knows why🙄

I'm thinking I might!!

I think a lot of men don't like the idea of women producing this special fluid that keeps babies alive and nourishes them. It's got fuck all to do with men and it may anger some of them. Hence all those creeps wanting to stick male nipples into babies' mouths.

ArabellaScott · 21/02/2024 15:48

Preferably near a potted plant.

This is ... baffling. Are we to drape a leaf over the exposed tit?

I'd be so fucked off with that tbh. BF as lovely as it is, is hard work. You really don't need an overgrown baby (with strange issues) storming off anywhere. I hope he apologised when he regains his senses.

No no, it's just for the picturesque framing. Because woman's role is to be decorative (in op's h's opinion).

Does he enjoy porn?
Does he comment on low-cut tops, etc, or on situations where part of a boob may be on show?
Please do not have human children with this man

excitedforbaby9 · 21/02/2024 15:53

aww that’s funny because I think your husband should shut the fuck up 🤣

marshmallowburn · 21/02/2024 15:53

google elephant ear plants - any man would be so lucky ( one of my fave plants - I'm a plant lover) - if they needed to cover the nether regions!
Thanks again for all responses - kind or not

Girlontherailreplacementbusservice · 21/02/2024 15:57

Tell him not to worry, I breast-fed for 18 months and never once did so without a tiara. 🙄
