I get really irritated when someone won’t accept “I don’t know” as my answer. Something along the lines of:

”Sarah is having a baby! Do you know when it’s due?”
”No, I didn’t know she was pregnant”
”Her oldest is four and she didn’t want a big age gap so it’s probably soon” <Looks at me expectantly>
”I didn’t know she was pregnant so no idea I’m afraid”
”But when do you think it would be?” <Looks at me expectantly>
”Still no idea. Between now and six months?!?”

Or

”I need to hire a nanny. How do you recruit a nanny?”
”I don’t have a nanny so couldn’t say. Have you talked to Sarah, she will probably know?”
”I should probably talk to a nanny agency, which one should I call?”
”I’ve never hired a nanny through an agency so no idea I’m afraid”
”But you must have some idea!”

It has to be okay to sometimes just say “I dunno”.

People who complain about a person's behaviour when they themselves act in the same way...no insight whatsoever. Also blaming everyone else for whatever the thing is..couldn't possibly be their fault ever! Also those that seem to be able to 'speak plainly' but cannot cope if they are on the receiving end.

cherish123 · 29/02/2024 21:25

Men who insist on driving (even when it's their wife's car) and women who think they can't drive long distances but their husband can.

sockarefootwear · 29/02/2024 21:26

People who interpret 'off work sick' as 'having a lovely day off'. This is sometimes colleagues who call (or even worse, send multiple e-mails and follow with a call to ask me to look at them) and ask if I can 'just' look at something/make a phone call. Sometimes it's friends/family who hear that I am not at work and want to pop in for a coffee/go out for lunch. I am very rarely off sick and if I am, it is because I am genuinely too ill to leave the house or think straight.

So well put ! I agree and I know a few of these types !

Thmssngvwlsrnd · 29/02/2024 22:15

People who take a picture of their child's certificate received at school, then post it on Facebook.
People who say 'humans' when they could just say 'people'.

Morecurlywurly · 01/03/2024 00:58

People who take out huge loans for new cars which they see as a status symbol. Then they moan about the “cost of living crisis” lol.

CruCru · 01/03/2024 16:59

The downstairs flat next door has been sold and the new owner has installed a new security light. It is quite full on - it’s a bit like having a spotlight on us whenever we leave or come home after dark - but it is not the end of the world. Unfortunately it is annoying the people staying there (she lets it on AirBNB) and they make a point of closing the curtains whenever we use the front door after dark.

Am wondering if she will complain to us but we can’t really avoid using our front door after dark (I promise that we don’t slam it).

I know someone who, if she doesn’t like the answer to something will repeat it as if it is an entirely unfamiliar word or phrase. Something along the lines of:

”So, what is the plan for Tuesday?”
”Ah, we’re going to XYZ, just by Oxford Circus. I told Caroline we’d be there by noon.”
”Ox-ford Cir-cus?”
”Yes. You know how to get there, don’t you?”
” … “

OP I hear you! DS is the worst for this

him: who’s the best footballer in the world?
me: I don’t know ds. I don’t know much about football
him: it’s probably Messi, right mum?
me: I don’t know ds
him: but it probably is, right?
me: screams silently into the void

Aww this is sad when it’s your child’s interest! At least pretend to be interested

I dunno - people who are really, really interested in something work out pretty quickly when you’re faking. Or they just keep talking AT you about the WWE.

People who insist their ailments are WAY worse than anyone else’s 🙄 when it’s clear someone else just wants to talk about how worried they are about a health issue.

Onceuponatimeiwasahoe · 24/03/2024 15:53

People that stand to close when you're in a queue, you will get your turn.
People who take long when at the checkout having a chat and see people waiting.
People that sit in their cars when car parks are full.

Elphame · 24/03/2024 15:59

People who won't let a subject drop without finishing their spiel even when I have (politely and then maybe not so politely) made it very clear that I. am. not. interested.

Anyone who tries to convert me to their religion or tries to inflict their religious convictions on me.

BeagleMum2024 · 25/03/2024 14:31

People who think that walking their dog is optional.

MissingMoominMamma · 25/03/2024 20:51

Today- everything!

lotsofpeoplenametheirswords · 25/03/2024 21:01

People who window shop or walk round shopping centres at a snails pace. Just go in a shop, buy what you want and go home.

People who say things like 'it'll go well with a nice boot/it would suit a bold red lip' etc.

People who join a thread along the lines of 'can't wait for my 3 holidays this year - where are you going' and then moan that people are going on more holidays than they are and how others should 'read the room' 'realise your privilege' etc - don't go on the thread then.

CruCru · 25/03/2024 21:16

People on my street who dump an old, rickety piece of furniture on the pavement and put a note on to say “Please take!”. No. You are not being generous, you can’t be arsed to go to the dump. And no one wants that rained on, splintery old cot.

Assumptions. People make a lot of them, without being informed of all the facts. Then when they've formed their opinion and you correct them, it's almost always an "oh" as the response to being proved wrong!

But that would rule out 99% of the posts on here

CantDealwithChristmas · 26/03/2024 12:00

People who are very self centred and bore on about themselves without ever asking you how you are.

People who misinterpret natural human emotions and responses as mental health or medical conditions eg being sad at a bereavement is not depression. Being shaken up after witnessing something unpleasant is not PTSD. A rude and selfish person is not necessarily ND.

People who insist on talking to you whilst you're both watching a film.

People who insist on showing you, on their phone, tik toks that they inexplicably found amusing.

Sanctimonious people.

Disingenuous people.

Owen Jones.

Mediocre men at work who think they are brilliant and bang on about bullshit. They give me the rage.

They talk in stupid catch phrases like the silly character Bob Mortimer does "the train guy"

I'm not entirely sure. I'm autistic and I get 'peopled out'. I'm much happier if I spend a lot of time on my own .
