I get really irritated when someone won’t accept “I don’t know” as my answer. Something along the lines of:

”Sarah is having a baby! Do you know when it’s due?”
”No, I didn’t know she was pregnant”
”Her oldest is four and she didn’t want a big age gap so it’s probably soon” <Looks at me expectantly>
”I didn’t know she was pregnant so no idea I’m afraid”
”But when do you think it would be?” <Looks at me expectantly>
”Still no idea. Between now and six months?!?”

Or

”I need to hire a nanny. How do you recruit a nanny?”
”I don’t have a nanny so couldn’t say. Have you talked to Sarah, she will probably know?”
”I should probably talk to a nanny agency, which one should I call?”
”I’ve never hired a nanny through an agency so no idea I’m afraid”
”But you must have some idea!”

It has to be okay to sometimes just say “I dunno”.

People who can't accept that people like other things to them. Who gives a shit what clothes or things people like? Get a grip. I find it really sad

DaBlackCatsAreDaBestCats · 17/02/2024 12:55

Liars who think you’re stupid

phoenixrosehere · 17/02/2024 13:01

Music snobs and those who don’t even listen to certain genres but want to say they’re xyz because they heard a handful of musicians from one genre.

FrangipaniBlue · 17/02/2024 13:04

Miserable whiny never have a nice thing to say people.

The Victor Meldrew types who literally just moan and everything is everybody else's fault (usually the government).

FrangipaniBlue · 17/02/2024 13:07

and today specifically, car drivers who don't know their Highway Code and that when turning into or out of a junction cars are supposed to GIVE WAY TO PEDESTRIANS!!

One today was a learner with a driving instructor FFS!!

Everyone. I'm fed up of thinking for other people because they are too dumb or are they clever in getting someone else to work it out, why have a dog and bark yourself springs to mind? It's like having to be the grown up and hold the hand and spoon feed them all the time.

People who don't order medication on time, people who don't know what tablets they take and what are they for. People who phone to ask if their prescription is ready, the one they ordered 3 days ago and who were told when it would be ready during the phone call they made when they ordered it.

People who have run out of meds and ring on a Friday afternoon expecting miracles or the ones who have run out and they are going on holiday the next day or that night even.

You can tell I've been in work today.

Pretty unfair when doctors won't let you order medication until 3 days before you run out, even though they take 5 days to issue a prescription and then the pharmacist takes another 5 to actually dispense it and text you (if they text you at all).

Not me, but my mum's surgery and associated dispensary. They are so useless.

However I bet you do get some really ditzy people.

I often wonder what driving instructors are actually doing. Recently a learner didn't have their lights on and I wondered what the heck their supervising driver had been doing since they left home!

Something that really does annoy me now and it seems to be happening more often. People who have conversations on the phone while being served in shops cafes etc
I watched someone yesterday standing by the till while talking on his phone the shop assistant waited patiently for him to finish while a lengthy queue built up behind him.
Being an old cow these days I will tell offenders to have their conversation elsewhere so I can get served.
Twats

A few years ago that happened in Sainsburys and Sainsburys supported the rude mobile using customer. They (rightly) got so much stick on social media.

These are people who haven't ordered at all and it's life prolonging medication and we do allow them to order in a timely manner and make exceptions for people ordering early for holidays. We are quite flexible and will even post date scripts so even if it's not due when they order they can still pick up when it's due.

My medication is in weekly strips so order in the middle of the third strip. If it was on a monthly strip then I'd set a reminder on my mobile phone. Goodness knows how they are going to manage when our scripts change to electronic.

Drivers in stationery traffic hand gesturing at my children, whilst standing at the pelican crossing waiting for the green man, to indicate that they should cross the road. Like it's some fucking kind gesture. I've instructed my children to ignore these cretins, because what they fail to grasp is that whilst their direction of traffic may be at a standstill, traffic could still be thundering along from the other way. Wait for the green man & ignore the bossy twat in the car!

It used to make me so mad as I was trying to teach them to cross the road safely at the crossings.

Pigglyplaystruant99 · 17/02/2024 16:55

Parents who are glued to their phones when out with young children.

People who get a dog and have no idea about canine psychology.

WeAreBorg · 17/02/2024 16:56

People who own Range Rovers
People with personalised number plates
People who are unable to park without taking up three spaces
People who obliterate any wildlife in their garden, block pave everything and cut all their trees down

I have conducted an extensive statistical analysis and it turns out if you do one of these you have a 99.9% chance of doing all of these (p<0.05)

People who use the word “woke”
when they really mean they can’t continue to be rude, ignorant, self-absorbed, dismissive unnecessarily about other people anymore.

Edited

Exactly!

We can safely dismiss anyone who attempts to use “woke” as a pejorative. Better to be woke than a bigot.

Me too! Your n is higher now! Especially first and last point significant. All grass lawns and a hate for any bush, climbers etc. Why is that? My theory is it's a special class of wannabe thinking these are status symbols somehow when it's probably the opposite...

LadyBird1973 · 18/02/2024 10:02

People who get a new boyfriend/girlfriend and forget they are parents, so prioritise new DP over their children, letting them move in after 5 minutes and don't listen to their children's concerns.

All of these for me too.

It's awful when people move into a house with a beautiful garden, and the first thing they do is rip out every natural thing they can. Usually accompanied by grey roof tiles and cheap looking cement render.

Don't get me started on range rovers and the like.

Mostly, they seem to mean that they are upset, as it's no longer acceptable to use derogatory names for brown people.

ToWhitToWhoo · 18/02/2024 20:23

Building managers who never get things done that are obviously needed (e.g. the lift in my workplace that has been out of order for 8 months now).

Even worse, builders and their managers who start jobs and leave them unfinished for ages- e.g. the slabs they took out of the steps and slopes outside my block of flats; fortunately finally fixed, but still loads of rubbish from that job left lying around.

People who park on pavements, or leave bikes standing across the pavement.

People who stand in groups on the pavement, talking or taking photos (I live in a rather tourist-y area) and seem to expect you to get into the road to pass them.

Drivers and cyclists who ignore green lights at pedestrian crossings.

Anyone who tries to find out when my birthday is and won't accept my strong wish to have it ignored.

Fionaville · 18/02/2024 20:31

People who put others down to make themselves feel better.
Snobs and people who love to brag.
People who have to tell you that they've done everything you've done and got what you've got, but 10 times better.
Know it alls in general.

Treehugger22 · 18/02/2024 20:35

Uneducated and unprofessional people that work with vulnerable people

ToWhitToWhoo · 18/02/2024 20:37

Generational bigots: people who are hostile and prejudiced toward entire generations, whether 'Boomers', 'Millennials', 'Generation Z' or whoever the target may be. It's not that different from racism and xenophobia. It's not really any better to be prejudiced against someone because of when they were born than because of where they were born.

People who think that illnesses and disabilities- whether physical or mental- are either a pretence or the result of being spoilt and not having had things tough enough, and can be cured by harshness.

Often associated with the above: people, often in my age group, who think that everything was better in the Good Old Days.

Often associated with the above: people who go around being smug about how We Won the War, when they weren't even born during the war!

StockpotSoup · 18/02/2024 22:00

People who think you should move for them when they could just as easily move themselves. I had this the other day with someone getting off the Tube. I and others had moved to the left and right sides of the door, leaving the centre free for people to get off - as pretty much everyone does for every train ever. Some twat tried walking at me, saying “Well? Aren’t you going to move out of my way?” I pointed
out that several other people had got off before him and had all somehow managed to get through the (sizeable) gap in the middle.

CruCru · 26/02/2024 16:50

People who sit on the aisle seat on the bus and look surprised (annoyed) when I want to sit on the window seat. I know they do it because they don’t want anyone to sit next to them but the bus is full.

People who stand right in front of the doors on the bus so I can’t get off. It is the least sensible place to stand.

I take great pleasure in doing this, and seeing their pissed off face when they realise I have had the audacity to ask them to budge the fuck up.

SinnerBoy · 26/02/2024 17:22

IKEA customers. The family groups who fill the aisle and dawdle, or stop and then look all hurt when you want to get past.

Can you tell I went to bloody IKEA yesterday?
