Leaving while on sick leave?

I'm currently signed off from work due to ongoing health issues.
I've been considering leaving for a while. The thought of going back and having to work a notice makes me feel even worse.
Is it acceptable to email my notice in and "work" my notice while on sick? I don't rely on the wage and I think it's making my health issues worse. Other option would be going in and seeing the boss and having an awkward conversation.

It's fine. Do what you need to.

Haven’t you already posted this?

it’s fine to resign whilst on sick leave and most employees would rather you do that than pay you sick pay or keep your job open and be short staffed.

Why don't you just ring your boss and discuss it rather than having to go in?

Are they paying you see keave? I'm sure tgry would be happy to stop.

I would ring and just say, I'm still sick and can't see a return to work being possible in the short term and that maybe signing with immediate effect may work better for you both.

No I'm not getting paid sick, other than the standard SSP. So it would be acceptable to say hand a months sick note in at the same time as handing in my 4 week notice?

You can resign and get a new sick note to cover your notice period, that is absolutely fine. They will continue to pay SSP, if you are still entitled, up to your last day.

@daisybrown37 thank you x

I handed in my notice then went off sick & just came back for a couple of days. Work had become unbearable. I didn't plan it that way. You should at the very least get SSP
