First aid course

Hi, I'm due to attend a first aid course and feel really anxious. I know a lot of it is practical. Will I be practised on? What parts of my body will likely be used if so? My ASD anxiety is making me shudder at the thought of it all.

Any course I've been on has either had volunteers ready to be the "patients" or asked for volunteers from the group - I've never been put on the spot to be demonstrated on! Hopefully it'll be the same for you, if you're concerned you could always quickly grab the trainer as you go in and just mention you would rather not be used as a demo patient, I'm sure they'll be used to that request 😊

Contact the course provider and explain you don't want to be practised on if that's how you feel, you can be put in a three instead of a pair

Generally you practise wound dressing / bandaging and possibly applying a sling on a partner and putting each other in the recovery position with DR ABC.

CPR will be done on a resusci Annie.
