New virus with sinus pain…..anyone else

10 days in now and I’m feeling worse rather than better. Has anyone else had this virus where the sinus pain is off the grid? I’ve gone through about 10 boxes of tissues and I just feel absolutely dreadful. I’m planning on calling the GP today as I think I have a sinus infection

Anyone else suffering with this?

I'm currently recovering from this. Sinus pain for about 10 days and then the headaches and nausea hit 😪 I spent 2 days in bed with the headaches. Its a nasty bout that's going round

I am just getting over all this. Had what I think was flu but the sweats and the pounding head was awful then I got awful tonsillitis on about day 7 neck was so swollen and white tonsils and pounding head and sinus pain too. Saw dr on Monday for combined antibiotics for both. Feel slightly better today but so tired. Awful bug and a waste of my half term hol! Get well soon xx

Yes! I'm on day 3, weirdly the roof of my mouth is agony as well as the sinus headache, earache and general feeling of being smashed in the face with a brick. I genuinely sobbed this morning because I was in so much pain. Absolutely dreading going into the office tomorrow. Any tips to get through 8 hours of people talking to me and bright lights?

Yes it's been so weird. I had a cold but one that made me feel so bad for days, starting 3.5 weeks ago. Sinus pain straight away.a weird weird itchy feeling in throat and eyes like it was also allergic. Sweats on and off. Just getting better (but sinusitis remained) then a second bout of exactly the same hit me and I was back to square one. Never had anything like it before. Only feeling human as of 2 days ago

I had it! Insanely painful for around 3 days.
Thankfully it did clear up after that pretty well, though I took a few more days to recover from the lack of sleep

Posypointshoes · 14/02/2024 19:47

I had this, it took two rounds of antibiotics to shift it and they told me I should have gone in sooner when I finally went in - by then it had also travelled to my ear! It was agony! Hope you feel better soon

Posypointshoes · 14/02/2024 19:47

Oh for what it's worth GP said longer than ten days usually needs antibiotics, I soldiered on for three weeks before I went in and wish I hadn't!

This is exactly the same as what I've had and the same time frames too. 48 hours into antibiotics and my tonsils are no longer white but I still feel horrific

I finally got some antibiotics today. I basically had to plead (on the online portal not face to face) with them as I felt so poorly.

a couple of hours later I got a text to say that a prescription for antibiotics had been sent to my local pharmacy.

I’m of course glad that I’ve now got them but goodness me what a situation, not even a phone call 😞

hope everyone else who is struggling feels better soon

Whoever said nasal rinse - thank you thank you
omg it was so gross but so worth it for the hour or so I get relief!

Thatnameistaken · 16/02/2024 23:09

I had raging sinusitis over Christmas and new year, never had it in my 55 years but I felt like I'd been hit by a truck. Not painful as such but a feeling of pressure, felt exhausted all the time and a horrendous smelling discharge from my nose.
Got antibiotics (Doxycycline) a steroid nasal spray and felt better in a couple of days.

violetcuriosity · 19/02/2024 07:15

Just wanted to come and update. My bloods came back negative for glandular fever (yay) and the throat swab was negative for step. My blood tests didn't come back great through and my CRP levels were 96 (supposed to be less than 5). The doctor said everything pointed to a bacterial infection but they also suspect I had flu too. I'm now on day 7 of phenoxymethylpenicillin and feel nearly back to normal 🙏🏼

Mama2many73 · 19/02/2024 08:06

I've had similar and it went on for 2 weeks, it's now on my chest with a cough. Ds15 has been off all week with it, genuinely not well enough to go in, thankfully it's half term this week.

One Christmas my DH was unwell with sinus pain, yo the point I called 111 on Xmas night. Emergency appointment and he had compacted (impacted?), infected sinusitis. He was given 10days of double antibiotics. Never seen him so ill, should have seen a doc long before , so please take care.

My whole household is now gone full circle with this cold / virus!! Honestly I'm actually getting paranoid 😷 the cough is keeping me awake at night and I'm wheezing, kids are just as bad. Normally we bounce back from this sort of stuff! I'm going to beg the doctors surgery to prescribe antibiotics tomorrow, absolutely blast the house of germs and put a cross on the frigging front door!!!
