Job application deadline extended

I applied for a vacancy last week, submitting just before the deadline. The advert has gone out again with an extension for a couple more weeks.

Is this more likely to mean they didn't want to interview me based on my application and are looking again, or I might still be included with any others yet to apply?

YANBU - You must not be what they are looking for
YABU - It's all still to play for

They would most likely want to have a few candidates to interview and didn't get enough good candidates.

It probabky means they only had a couple of applications and would like to see who else is out there.
Even if I had one v strong application on paper I would prefer to interview 4-5.

I've had it where even after the 2nd advert there was only 2 applications, at that point we interviewed. You're still in it at the minute

Most companies want to interview a few suitable candidates, they probably just don’t have enough applications- fingers crossed you still hear back soon :)

Probably not enough candidates and they want to have a comparison. That or the calibre is poor and they need to go away and re-evaluate the salary banding to attract the candidates they want.
