TO be so angry!!

So I recently split with my DH, there were numerous reasons, one of them was that he did not pay the council tax for over 1 year, we kept getting the letters and he assured me he had paid it, obviously until the bailiffs knocked at the door which was absolutely awful. He is a high earner so no reason why he couldnt pay it. Since we split I now have my own separate bill and the agreement was that he paid the arrears from last year and I paid mine. A letter came through the post this morning threatening again so I instantly called them and they told me they had not had a payment since October last year. I have now paid it myself to avoid anything but I am so so so mad!

So when you split and you got your new bill did you make sure the arrears were in his name at his new address?

Why wouldn't he just pay it off in one go if he is a high earner?

I sent them his new address and he told me he had sorted it, I cant just change it to his name though

I would include it in the financial settlement so you get your money back

I mean, you are absolutely right to be angry but not really surprised. He didn't pay it before when he lived there, now he's moved out but it's still in your name he had no reason at all to pay it (other than saying he would)

It not something I can understand tbh. Seems such a silly thing to avoid paying.
I would be on look out for other things he hasn't paid.
