To think no-one in real life has ever walked around in a boyfriend's shirt the morning after?

Standard movie trope of morning after a romp. Woman wandering around in the man's work shirt making coffee and looking sexy.

Has anyone actually done this in real life? I've had my fair share of romps and this has definitely never come up. Maybe I never dated enough men who wore shirts?

Yeah and the women ALWAYS look amazing don't they - tousled hair, just enough smudge on the eye make, long tanned gazelle-like legs.

Wish I could look like that first thing in the morning

KreedKafer · 12/02/2024 14:54

Not a crisp work shirt, no!

In my much younger days when staying over a boyfriends' houses, I've definitely borrowed t-shirts, just to put on after a shower or when getting up in the morning to make a cuppa before I was ready to get dressed.

No. The 'nipples poking out from under the hem' look would put the bloke off forever after.

😂

Yes, checked shirts
DP is a foot taller than me! I’ve been nicking his shirt for thirty years. Less so now as I wear pyjamas 😂

AffIt · 12/02/2024 14:57

I tried it once when OH (then a trainee lawyer and the only boyfriend I've ever had who wears 'proper' clothes to work) and I first started going out.

However, I am almost 5'9" and athletically built, as opposed to the petite manic pixie dream girl type, so it just looked as though I had started getting dressed to go to work but had forgotten to put my trousers on.

KimberleyClark · 12/02/2024 14:57

Another soap/movie trope - has anyone ever said "it's not what it looks like" or "I can explain" when caught in flagrante in real life?

LuckyPaisley · 12/02/2024 15:05

I was watching Neighbours today and they did this! Except the actress is significantly taller than the actor, and the shirt was suitably 'sexy' baggy on her and they'd clearly have had to get a bigger shirt than any of his quite slim fit small shirts to make it work!

PlantsFallLikeDominoes · 12/02/2024 15:06

I get the shirt thing, but not the bed sheet. Who has ever wrapped themselves up in a bed sheet 😂

StringTheory1 · 12/02/2024 15:09

I’m tall, with generous low-hanging bosoms. I tend to go for small, skinny indie boys. If my partner for some mad reason suddenly acquired a shirt there’s not a hope in hell Id be able to squeeze into it, much less wear it as a baggy sexy night-shirt a la The Movies.

These women in the US films must be tiny, to wear a man’s shirt which comes half-way down their thighs.

I’m a foot shorter than dh too! Maybe that’s why I’ve felt ok doing it. There was never any danger of minge being on display 😂

TheLurpackYears · 12/02/2024 15:10

Never had a proportionally larger enough boyfriend to do that. I would wear exh dressing gown occasionally but it as so warm I'd get furious and it smelt slightly of goats.

noooooooo · 12/02/2024 15:10

I’ve done it, and nicked them too.

DD is 5ft 6 but her boyfriend is 6ft 5".

mondaytosunday · 12/02/2024 15:14

No and wouldn't it be a bit stinky? And, you never see them go to the toilet either- they just get up looking nicely made up with tousled hair, put his shirt on and go get some coffee. Or wrap themselves up in a whole sheet which is even weirder. And unless they are going to have some shower sex action you see the guy get up, haul on his jeans and top and head out the door - no shower or brushing their teeth! I don't want to see those things happening but just a gesture towards some basic hygiene - even just an off camera shout from the shower would be something. At most you get a bit of water splashed on their face while they stare at themselves in the mirror contemplating their life choices.

GlitterBall91 · 12/02/2024 15:15

I wear his boxers sometimes 😂

A jumper once because we’d been out and I had missed the last bus so had to stay in his house. I was wearing a small outfit…

All very ‘innocent’ - he was in the sofa and his mum brought me a cup to tea (she didn’t realise I was there and got a bit of a shock).

Catza · 12/02/2024 15:18

I do it all the time, yes. I have long sexy legs if it is relevant.
Man's shirts are comfy enough and are big enough to cover strategic bits without having to change into day wear right away. Unless one is dating a skinny man, of course. In which case the shirt is no good.

mitogoshi · 12/02/2024 15:19

I've stolen dp's on holiday to wear over my bikini, well I did ask , I mean I took them extra to wear because I'm really sun sensitive. He wears a 2xl so they are still suitable large on my substantial size 16 body.

On the subject of movie cliches - why do they always wear bras to bed??? So uncomfortable

Redlarge · 12/02/2024 15:21

No i doubt anyone who does diy suddenly whips out dungarees and a headscarf either. However you cant paint without it on TV.

Magatha · 12/02/2024 15:22

I've worn boyfriends shirts in the past, back when I was slim and did have gazelle like legs.

Now it's a slobby t-shirt and only if I need to stay warm on the way to the loo!

Danik8 · 12/02/2024 15:24

I often grabbed a hoodie or big teeshirt back in the day when I had one night stands boyfriend-sleepovers.

But no, sadly I didn’t wake up with salon hair, immaculate make up and still pristine lacy underwear on and reach for a crisp, white shirt from my boyfriend’s wardrobe. I doubt any of the wasters I shagged owned a crisp, white shirt to be honest.

My husband could comfortably fit into mine, but not the other way round 😂

Tallisker · 12/02/2024 15:26

Oh yes mine was a massive firefighter bloke and he came home one day from a big grass fire, fresh sweat and smoke. I wore that shirt 🥰

Blimey I've come over all unnecessary

HoneyButterPopcorn · 12/02/2024 15:27

I wear DS hand me down sports kit from school (bloody expensive but well made hoodies, jackets and joggers). Of course the danger is being mistaken for a schoolboy…
