Our government is accused of deceitful conspiracy on here most days. Conspiring to deliberately wreck the NHS so they can sell it. Conspiring to let thousands die of covid so their rich friends can reap benefits from disaster economics. The US government was accused by countless people all over the world for either 'letting' 9/11 happen or even staging it themselves. Not to mention all the trumped up justifications for our own involvement in the Iraq war.

Why should one country be immune from accusations of conspiracy? Governments lie, don't they.

Exactly.

Except some governments are apparently allowed the benefit of the doubt!

No only that - but let's try and 'cancel' Labour MPs for suggesting that Israeli government might be anything other than saintly.

I didn't think that ploughing into Afghanistan after 9/11 was a good idea, and that was heavily criticised. So you'll excuse me whilst I find Israel's actions disgusting too.

Go on... try. You wanted people to vote on this topic and I have. We don't have to agree!

So, once again, we are blaming jews worldwide for the actions of Israel?

You know what that is, don't you...

Ok, so blaming all Jewish people for the actions of Israel’s government is antisemitic. Agreed.

But accusing Israel’s government of x/y/z is also antisemitic because it is an attack on all Jewish people?

Interesting.

Round and round and round it goes...

Blueblell · 12/02/2024 16:38

I think many people question how Israel were not more prepared for the attack. I don’t think it is antisemitic to think that way. Unless I have missed something In addition to that that he has said.

User19798 · 12/02/2024 16:40

It shows what he thinks of rochdale. They have the choice of 2 anti semites and a pervert.

Dogfisher · 12/02/2024 16:41

"The Egyptians are saying that they warned Israel 10 days earlier... Americans warned them a day before [that] there's something happening... They deliberately took the security off, they allowed... that massacre that gives them the green light to do whatever they bloody want."

This is what he said Blueblell - a little more than you suggest in your post.

I mean, it's not like Ukraine and the whole world, except the USA and the UK, failed to notice that Russia was about to invade Ukraine...

tara66 · 12/02/2024 16:45

Sorry not read many PPs but on 7/10/23 why did it take so long for the Israeli defences to go to the sites of the attack? News reports on Sky said it was 17 hour first of all , then 12 hours for any help got to the place of the music festival and the village - by which time it was too late and it was right there in Israel. That has never been explained. Also were there not any Israeli guards around the borders of Gaza? They built the fence at huge expense but no one on site to observe any breakout? Why? I thought Israeli intelligence was supposed to be amongst best in the world.

Where ever there is an attack there’s conspiracy

In this case antisemitic conspiracy

And from someone who might be an MP. Depressing

sorestupid · 12/02/2024 16:15

The Israeli government does not get a free pass from criticism. And criticising them doesn’t make anyone anti semitic. I will defend my right to criticise any government until I’m blue in the face. Christ knows I criticise the Tories enough!

Nobody is arguing that you cannot criticise the Israeli government, I certainly do. However do you believe the Tories allowed the Manchester bombing to happen to strengthen their campaign & retain power?

So in order to make any criticism of Israel the exact same criticism or accusation must be made against the current UK Government, Otherwise it’s antisemitism …..🤔
By the way I had a huge fucking problem with the supposed WMD excuse for going into Iraq, and I didn’t agree with going into Afghanistan either.

Isn't the elephant in the room the Muslim vote? As a PP said, Galloway wants/needs it - it's estimated at 26% for the constituency and without it, Labour could be in trouble.

Yes… an accusation he made about the Israeli government, not Jewish people. It’s not as if he stated Netanyahu asked the Israeli population first!

Now look it’s a theory, maybe a total conspiracy theory. And lots of people will find it bonkers or maybe even offensive. That still doesn’t make it antisemitism.

makeanddo · 12/02/2024 17:00

The elephant in the room is the Muslim vote. Starmer has again shown he can't make important decisions. I wonder if they'll hastily replace him if, as suspected, Labour win the seat. I wonder how many in Rochdale agree with his comments.

Bear in mind that this man is hoping to become an MP. He is claiming he 'fell for the conspiracy theory'. We don't need more people who can't think before they speak. I call bullshit here. If he is unhappy with Labours stance and has views like that then he needs to resign, we don't need people like him in government. In fact, they are dangerous to our democracy.

Dogfisher · 12/02/2024 17:02

Yes the whole shabby fiasco makes me realise that Starmer is even worse than I originally thought.

Starmer is an idiot. Victory was his for the taking. He has managed to alienate almost everybody and has done the opposite of inspire the remainder.

brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr · 12/02/2024 17:03

Boris Johnson said far worse things than this guy and somehow became PM. Politicians and wannabee politicians say dumb stuff sometimes.

In this case, the person apologised for his words.

In Boris Johnson’s case he refused to apologise.

Were millions of tories and their children murdered on the back of allegations of them conspiring to wreck the NHS? No, so jog on with your antisemitic false equivalences.

I'm sorry, but why the fuck is it the responsibility of non-Isralei Jewish people to demand anything if a foreign government.

Thanks - google immediately brings up New York Times article of Oct 11 2023-
'' The long Wait for Help as Massacre unfolds in Israel''.
Have you read it?
The time it took for help to arrive (one woman waited 26 hours) is very relevant imho.
