Dog Poo

Hello,

I live on a medium sized estate, lots of dog owners, and we're lucky to have a big countryside field/walking area directly behind the estate where everyone walks their dog. I have a dog myself, and we regularly use this.

Today I walked outside my front garden gate, and saw a huge pile of dog shit next to it/next to my hedge.

Made me see red. How bloody lazy to not even pick it up. I don't even let my dog pee on neighbour's hedges as I feel bad, and there's no need anyway.

I looked on my Ring doorbell footage as it directly records this area, and found the culprit ( man who walks his dog everyday at 4AM on a leash, for a grand total of 10 minutes, goes past our house on way out/back it seems).

This is in the opposite direction of the field so god knows where he's usually taking the dog to do his business anyway. On the recording he literally stands still, and watches his dog take a shit next to my gate, walks off, then walks past again on his way home. He also walked past the poo again this morning and didn't bother picking it up.

WIBU to set an alarm for 4am, bag up his dog shit, and give it to him tomorrow morning with a nice smile and 'I think you forgot your bag of dog shit'?

Awful. Report to police with footage and get him fined

Can you do that? That would be an excellent solution.

Fruitmangocream · 11/02/2024 19:53

I just googled it for my local council. They can be issued with a Fixed Penalty notice of £100 or up to £1000 if goes to court. Also neighbourhood watch can track the culprit

Someone had similar on our local fb page. They put a still of the dog with if this is your dog please clean up its shit. Some people identified the family, but some people, onviously the owners family were like it only had a wee and she was 'I can upload the whole video for people to decide . Do it again and I upload it to the council'. (Our council is having a strong push on it)
Not sure what the outcome ended up being but caused loads of aggro on the fb page!

Report it to police or your local council- whoever takes responsibility for fouling. In our area there's dog wardens and environmental health have litter wardens who will fine on the spot. Provide them with the footage and the address and type of dog and let them follow it up.

10ThousandSpoons · 11/02/2024 19:56

Open your window and shout at them to pick up their shit

Anewuser · 11/02/2024 19:56

I bloody love this. Please record it for us all to see. Dirty, lazy bastard.

Fageyoghurt · 11/02/2024 19:58

Agree with others, send it to the council or if it’s (legally) allowed post a still on local Facebook groups to see if he can be identified.

Floralnomad · 11/02/2024 20:01

Ring the council , find out who you report it to and give them the footage . If you don’t know where he lives find out first so you can give them the address . They will deal with him .

I believe its the local council

These bastards that do not pick up their dog mess are just nasty people and often turn aggressive when challenged.

My OH challenged on when we live in another house and we were only of the few houses on the road with a big wide drive and a tree by the wide, drive gates - OH saw red as the woman walked away as he watched from our window - he asked her politely and she ranted/lied she was going to get a bag as she forgot - she never came back and a few times the dog mess was left on our drive. - this is before the big take-up of CCTV cams at peoples houses-etc

Just had a look on my local council website, I can report it/send in the footage online which is good.

Just need to find out where he lives, he walks around in a orange hi-vis jacket so shouldn't be too hard to identify!😅

Not letting him get away with it, there's so many kids who play on the street around here and can't believe he thinks leaving dog shit lying around is ok

Definitely report it, get more evidence discretely. But don't share with neighbours or others etc incase he finds out and could get nasty. let the people who's job it is deal with him

Edited

Please do let us know if the coucil acts once you've found out where this hi-vis lives

Dog shit in parks where children and adults paly football

Dog shit on beaches where dogs ar banned at certain times of the years eG, Dymchuurch beach in the summer

Taking children to school just from the car in the winter wet weather dog shit by primary schools where some parents/children have stepped into it

Its disgusting!!!

B1anche · 11/02/2024 20:12

Do it! He deserves to be punished. This week someone let their dog do a massive shit in the alley way that directly leads to my son's primary school. Luckily, we spotted it but it looked like tens of people hadn't as it was spread everywhere. Absolutely disgusting.

BeautifulBirds · 11/02/2024 20:18

I feel your pain @autumnlace

We regularly have piles of poo outside our drive.

The worst offender was a older chap walking a boxer who slung his bag of dog poo into the corner/under our hedge.
Hubby was so angry he watched the cctv to see who did it!

It's disgusting.
