AIBU to not understand what anyone sees in Paddy McGuinness?

I'm sorry I just don't get him.

It isn’t about liking or not liking any particular accent and I’m sure everyone has their favourites and I accept that his Bolton accent is specific to the area, but I’ve heard other Bolton accents and McGuinness’s just sounds exaggerated. I’m told that just how it is, but it sounds forced.

I'm not sure who he is, he's one of the names I recognise but can't picture him.

I don't think I've ever seen anything Rylan's been in either, but I do recognise him. Plus he had a guest appearance on The Archers so that's a win in my book.

I knew him years ago, he went out with my friend. I also know a lot of people with similar accents

He's awful. I don't know why they keep giving him shows. He ruined Question of Sport.

I liked him, but I don't get the impression he treated his wife very well and it put me off him a lot.

His accent is exaggerated. He left Bolton as soon on as he made money, and never came back … but harps on about how great it is 🙄. Peter still lives here btw

He was a lifeguard at the Leisure Centre until Peter cast him. He has no discernible talent, can’t do comedy, can’t act, can’t write ..

Christine was quite happy to tolerate his behaviour whilst the good times were rolling in .. costly divorce coming up. I spy a Bankruptcy in about 4 years

He was awful on radio 2 earlier. Spent the whole time trying to call his brother. I turned over in the end.

I can't stand him. Talentless, unfunny, and irritating. Ruined Top Gear and a Question of Sport. Sack him asap please BBC.

Lots of people in the UK live in the north, thats probably why people are taking it personally. HTH

That’s pretty normal for celebrities. Cilla Black from Liverpool, Sean Connery from Scotland & Michael Parkinson from Yorkshire all did the same. Got out as soon as they could afford to & never went back while adopting the persona of professional scouser / Scotsman / Yorkshireman.

Sure, but it's silly to take it so personally, it's just a dislike of the accent, not the people as of course I do not know them.
