to be fed up with people who seem to just go on a topic to stir it up

it is happening quite a bit in SN at the moment.
It is lovely when people come and post who are not living with sn. but we keep getting "trolls" and people who just stir. just seems very odd to me.

2shoes have a look at the little moon icon near log out.
It might explain some oddness. TBH I have found it all odd for sometime, all over the boards.

hope 2shoes family are well

2shoesistheeasterbunny · 21/03/2008 11:26

lol this has been going on too long to be blamed on the moon(and 2 are men!)

oncewaswotz · 21/03/2008 11:28

Oh, I see... maybe they're werewolves? Similar to trolls.

harleyd · 21/03/2008 11:28

dont let it wind you up
it will make your face turn a funny colour and the veins in your neck will stand out..not a good look

maybe there should be a werewolf alert with a howl?

oncewaswotz · 21/03/2008 11:31

2shoes, it is upsetting, but I agree with others, the best is to ignore as best you can.

and click that ! thing over there>

MaureenMLove · 21/03/2008 11:31

I was on a thread like that yesterday and the day before I think. The best thing you can do is not even acknowledge they are there. Sometimes more easily said then done though, I know. Trouble is, in rl you can walk away from it, but its a bit harder to walk away from a thread that keeps staring you in the face!

Threadworm · 21/03/2008 11:34

Glad to hear 2shoes that you like it when people post in sn who aren't living with sn (so long as they aren't troublemakers!) Do other sn posters feel like that? I quite often lurk in sn threads because they are so well informed. But I would be wary of posting.

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 11:49

Unfortunately people don't seem to find the capability not to post about something they either A) are't interested in or B) Don't know anything about.
It winds me up when people offer advice that is obviously based on random thoughts picked out as they float past them on a carnival of dreams yet seem to think they are 'helping'.

Threadworm · 21/03/2008 11:55

Prob best just to lurk then!

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 12:01

If you're genuinely interested then I doubt anyone on any subject would have an issue with you posting.
It's just when people don't give two hoots or have any knowledge, or even be interested to learn yet post away as if they're the oracle on all things typed that it pisses me off, I'd imagine others feel the same about the topics they post in most.

Threadworm · 21/03/2008 12:04

Yes. The danger is when you see a thread like 'I find it so hard to do the supermarket shopping with the kids in tow' and you are just about to post your pearls of wisdom and then realise its in the special needs topic and that the challenges being discussed are much more specialist than you have any knowledge of.

mymatemax · 21/03/2008 12:15

I use the sn board & would welcome anyone having an input, I think we need all the help we can get , so any well meaning advice is a help.
But I know what 2shoes means, some just post an extreme opinion for kicks, I know it happens all over mn but somehow its harder to take & more upsetting when its about your dc especially when they are so vulnerable anyway.

TotalChaos · 21/03/2008 12:28

i agree with mymatemax. thoughtful tolerant advice is unlikely (even if misjudged or downright inaccurate) to hack people off. the difference between "would reins help?" and " it's disgusting for any kid above X age to wear a bib/still be in nappies".

I'm fed up of the aggro.

TotalChaos · 21/03/2008 12:28

fed up of the aggro on the combative SN threads I mean!

Peachy · 21/03/2008 12:32

I like it when non SN people post on SN, often the advice is good and gives a different perspective. But I know some of the ones 2shoes means and they ahve been winding me up too (and I have enough hormonal angst atm that I will make inappropriate comments if I am not careful LOL )

yurt1 · 21/03/2008 13:53

There are quite a few regular posters on the SN board who don't have kids with SN. I think 2shoes is talking about deliberate stirring.

The moon affects men as well. DS1 is barking at full moon.

Aitch · 21/03/2008 13:56

moon deffo affects men as well, dh is a gambler and knows that at a full moon football is likely to turn up more unlikely results. plus, you should hear the shouting round here when the pubs close...

sorry to hear that you got some people stirring it on the SN board. i do think some people like to be deliberately provocative on here, don't really know what the impetus is.

madamez · 21/03/2008 14:02

Well some of us just enjoy a good ruck, full moon or not. But I will confess to staying well away from SN, bereavement and the TTC bits (unless a thread title is something that I know something about) because rucking in there is No Fun (never mind inappropriate).

VictorianPASqualor · 21/03/2008 14:04

We had someone try it on our antenatal thread a little while ago actually, just came on and started telling one of our ladies to get some self-respect for posting about an issue with her DH
Thankfully they only posted about three times and were deleted.

BoysAreLikeBunnies · 21/03/2008 14:37

2shoes, I am appalled at this.

I feel very protective of those of you I 'know', SN or not.

Am that people get kicks out of shitstirring

2shoesistheeasterbunny · 21/03/2008 15:40

Threadworm oh you should post. a lot of threads can use a fresh post.
can I assure you I am not talking about mners her iynwim. mainly people who have just come on mn to cause friction. I think that would happen full moon or not.

2shoesistheeasterbunny · 21/03/2008 15:42
