Posting for some traffic not AIBU.

DD13 have has a cough for about a month now. It started like on her throat with phlegm; then it became more like a dry sort of cough. I took her to the daughter about a week ago as she was getting coughing fits; and he sent her antibiotics for a week; he said the throat and lungs were clear; so I thought maybe bronchitis.?

She nearly finish the antibiotics now and the cough has not gone yet; she has phlegm and saliva. She doesn’t have temperature; apart from the cough seems well and is eating well.

She has all the vaccines as far as I am aware. Not sure if I should call the dr again; we are going on holiday in a few days

No doesn't sound like it. Quite unlikely if she's been vaccinated and she'd probably have been poorly at some point (temp etc). Whooping cough coughing fits are very violent - often ending with a vomiting session and the telltale noisy 'whoop'.

Sorry to ask but any chance she's vaping? DN had similar symptoms after taking up vaping at a similar age.

There are stages to whooping cough, second stage is the vomiting due to the violent coughing. I've had it twice, had it mid 40's and it was awful 😞 I had to sleep laying over the back of the sofa so I was comfy ish but upright /leaning on my front to help me breathe ... really unpleasant! It lasted around 6-8 months before I was properly ok

Ds (fully vac) had WC at 10 years old. He had coughing fits that were really really explosive and usually ended up vomiting with for weeks and weeks. If she's had the right antibiotics there's nothing else they can do anyways tbh. Just have to ride it out. Ds already had an inhaler as he has asthma, that might be an option?

My DS has just been tested for WC and horrible violent coughing episodes followed by vomiting. Been coughing for weeks. Had antibiotics and inhaler. Nothing has helped. He feels miserable. Not sure how long the results take. I don't think they can do much and he is fully vaccinated.

Mine had a positive whooping cough test. Still him it's with the cough. Really hoping it will get easier soon. A few positive cases in the area and a few (we have whooping cough but not tested) cases. No real treatment options other than inhalers and steroids once they are past a certain point. Anyone else had any miraculous treatments?

No but I will say that once he got to around 3 months I was amazed it went away as we were so used to it by then!

Ever since (and he's 17 now this was 8 years ago) he coughs if he drinks / eats anything cold.

🤞it disappears for him in the same way. :)
