Her voice sounds like nails on a chalkboard to me and who wants to see yet another cooking show with 'chefs' cooking disgusting, impossible to find, incredibly expensive nasty food on the Aga?

Yawn.

That's why I never watch MasterChef anymore.

Lately, you can tell who will win just by figuring out who is the ponciest.

The latest winnner was posh barrister type....mmm....

Last years was poncey too.....think you are onto something there Expat...

Still love watching it though!!

policywonk · 20/03/2008 20:39

I am just envious of her unusual levels of attractivosity. I get over boyish, gamine types 'cos it's something I have never and will never be.

chickytwotimes · 20/03/2008 20:39

YANBU.
She is an annoying yah. I keep a basin handy when I am watching TV in case that trailer comes on. How the hell did she get a show. I know she won mc, but wtf?

claraquitetirednow · 20/03/2008 20:41

she is annoying but the food looks delicious...mmmm chorizo......I love Spanish food.

expatinscotland · 20/03/2008 20:41

She's attractive?!

To what?!

To that squid she's about to wrap in yet another bit of ham that sells for £40 a kilo and eat raw?

OP posts:
policywonk · 20/03/2008 20:43

maybe just to me then

expatinscotland · 20/03/2008 20:44

Mmm, it's delicious! I just can't resist making another of these.

What exactly are you making there, Tommy girl?

All that food is fecking raw.

OP posts:
claraquitetirednow · 20/03/2008 20:45

als well that ends well though.

MarmiteMe · 20/03/2008 20:50

She does my head right in, total ponce and her whole manner just irritates me.
Perhaps because I'm a common northener

policywonk · 20/03/2008 20:50

You are veggie aren't you expat? I'm a veggie at heart and I always find French/Spanish food essentially unappealing.

expatinscotland · 20/03/2008 20:50

I'm not British by birth and I find her annoying.

OP posts:
Botbot · 20/03/2008 20:50

Yep, a complete ponce. And what's that ridiculous contraption she's got her 300-euro jamon strapped to? Presume it's an authentic Spanish thing, but it just looks wankster in her kitchen.

expatinscotland · 20/03/2008 20:51

No, I'm not a veggie. I just don't eat meat that isn't produced ethically so as a result we're about 80% veggie.

OP posts:
Botbot · 20/03/2008 20:51

[I'm a common northerner too]

expatinscotland · 20/03/2008 20:52

But I do find much French and Spanish food unappealing.

pooka · 20/03/2008 20:57

Me too. Not keen on the restaurant food when we go to France. We go to an area where a local speciality is duck confit (not keen) and a salad with gezier which I think translates as gizzard salad. Is pretty grim.
I also cannot do the raw ham thing. And when I have eaten in spain, I have gelt that there's a lack of fresh vegetables and too much potato and fried stuff.
Now Italian and mexican food. Yum yum yum.

policywonk · 20/03/2008 20:59

Ah pooka, was that Dordogne? Fois gras, truffles and a million types of offal - boak.

My pet hate is meals in which there is more than one type of flesh - something they're quite hot on in France and Spain.

I'm all for fried potatoes, mind.

YANBU - she is a ponce and am amazed that they commissioned another series because the first one was shite.to

Pooka - went on holiday to Limoge last year and all they eat is meat and potatoes - no salad or vegetables. Apparently this is normal for them - I just thought it was so odd. I think rustic French food is seriously overrated.

JudgeNutmeg · 20/03/2008 21:11

I quite liked the bloke who won Masterchef because he looked so much like Sideshow-Bob.

WestCountryLass · 20/03/2008 21:11

I wondered who she was and where she was from, she won Masterchef you say?

I do love Spanish food though, I think it is going through a revival at the mo.

Not too sure about the snail and rabit paella though....

pooka · 20/03/2008 21:13

We go to a place in Gers. Nearest big city is Agen, which I believe is the prune capital of france (though garlic and duck-gizzards feature strongly too).

moondog · 20/03/2008 21:15

Gizzards are lovely.
Do you eat sausage rolls? Hamburgers?
I nly ask because they are made of ears and arseholes.Give me an honest gizzard any day.

pooka · 20/03/2008 21:49

Actually I am not desperately keen on sausages. I do eat beef burgers, but not ones made of arseholes!
