Could this be scabies!?

Posting for traffic. I apologize for the very blurry picture trying not to wake DD up!!! It's on their face only and one on the ear. Not on the rest of the body or hands and feet etc. It's the red lines making me worry and I'm so paranoid my house needs a massive sort out so not looking forward to the clean up if it is. I've been reading and reading up on it and now I feel itchy 🤢

I really don't think so. I think it's unusual to have scabies on a face and the area is much larger iirc.

Mumoftwo1312 · 30/01/2024 00:54

The lines look to me like pillow crease lines.

I'm following the thread though because my 3yo dd has come out in spots that aren't itchy and no fever etc. Dh is convinced it's not chickenpox as they aren't itchy, and she's had her measles vaccine so wtf are they? Dh reckons just a random mild virus

Maybe your dd and mine have the same virus that's going around

Mumoftwo1312 · 30/01/2024 00:56

Ps dd's spots are on the face only too. Mostly near the mouth but one on her forehead. She's adamant they aren't itchy and we haven't seen her scratch them. Are your dd's ones itchy, op? I think scabies is meant to be itchy

WhycantIkeepthisbloodyplantalive · 30/01/2024 01:04

Doesn't look like it to me. Looks more like allergy spots.

scabies tend to enter in between the fingers or toes and the tracking looks more like a line.

Sendhelp101 · 30/01/2024 07:48

Thank you everyone! In the light of day they are definitely not scabies and have gone down alot so could also have been a bit of sweat rash from sleeping as she does get very hot at night. I'm a very anxious person so once I get fixated on an idea it's hard for me to let it go!

@Mumoftwo1312 no not itchy either and no temp at all, how weird!? They have had a nasty cough for about 3 weeks though and really bunged nose. Gp doesn't seem to think its anything and they are fine in themselves!! Odd.

Ah you're more organised than me, we haven't bothered with the gp (yet?) as dd feels fine, no temp no itching. But it's been over a week of the spots. They appeared suddenly one mid-morning but she hadn't had anything unusual to eat so allergy unlikely. Each spot heals in a few days then another few appear. My dd hasn't even got the cough although she's got a mild runny nose but that's just being a 3yo right. Dh is totally unconcerned...I'm unconcerned too for my actual dd but I've got this niggling worry we've spread something dangerous into nursery! Mil was no help, she reckoned acne lol. 3yos don't get acne! And certainly not all of a sudden!

Fingers crossed both of them clear up soon!

Dear op how's your dc doing?

My dd has had an unexpected turn of events... last night broke out in a high temp and nasty cough and, as if by magic, all the spots disappeared! The temp is staying down with calpol. Just this moment she's suddenly complained the light is too bright (we have extremely feeble dim ceiling lights in our living room) and I panicked but dh agrees she's got no other signs of meningitis or anything.

Is your dd's illness developing similar? I hope she's OK, all the best
