Without being nagged

I’ve wondered if he could be on the spectrum
doesnt remember to pick up his clothes after a bath either
or remove hairs from the sink after shaving moustache

I myself have Aspergers but it’s been 9 years off and on reminding

We don't even have a toilet brush. I find them unhygienic. If the toilets dirty we squirt a bit of bleach and use toilet paper.

Yes, ditto.

I threw my toilet brush away after DS had used it (when he was about 10) to dislodge a large offender, and most of it was stuck in the bristles. I only discovered this a day or two later, when I finally found where the smell was coming from.

Never had one since.

Berlinlover · 29/01/2024 17:16

Toilet brushes are disgusting, I don’t blame him.

Scottishshortbread11877 · 29/01/2024 17:37

Toilet brushes are horrible. What is his diet like to make him leaving such a mess? I never use a toilet brush as no evidence after I flush.

Scottishshortbread11877 · 29/01/2024 17:39

@YorkshirePuddingsGreatestFan not an issue for most unless they have IBS surely? If you eat the correct diet and don't have a condition then you shouldn't be having motions like this.

Zok · 29/01/2024 14:20

Same with doesn’t open window after toilet

doesn’t have basic considerations for
others

We gave an extractor fan for that

SpeedyDrama · 29/01/2024 17:43

My ex used to say ‘what’s the point of cleaning the toilet after, it’s where shit is meant to go’. Probably unrelated but he’s certainly got undiagnosed ASD.

Though those who dismiss/laugh off a connection to autism are again showing the now infamous ignorance of MN about the condition. Unable to follow through on tasks they ‘don’t see the point in’ or managing hygiene with themselves or around the home without support/reminders can be part of the condition. Or is can be just cunty behaviour that men choose to do, absolutely.

Greentomatic · 29/01/2024 14:21

Yes..toilet brushes are grim, sits in a little pool of shit soup.

He should be using an alternative way to wipe his mess though.

A little pool of shit soup.

How that made me laugh. (Very true though). 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

EarringsandLipstick · 29/01/2024 17:50

I'll never understand these threads.

Barring very extreme D&V, even with young children, I've never had a situation where a toilet brush (or immediate clean) was called for.

I do have a toilet brush. I use it to clean the toilets, when I'm cleaning my bathrooms. So bleach or toilet cleaner first, leave for a while, clean with brush. After cleaning, rinse toilet brush, then leave to stand in bleach solution, before disposing.

Toilet brushes aren't inherently vile. Toilet brushes that are kept beside the toilet & used after poos, without cleaner, before being returned to continue sitting there - yes, utterly gross. My toilet brush lives in the cleaning cupboard.

StrongandNorthern · 29/01/2024 14:33

On the spectrum? Doubt it.
Typical bloke behaviour! Sadly, yes.
Toilet brush? No.
Bleach.

How is being a sexist pig better towards men as a whole better than saying he’s on the spectrum?

There’s plenty of slobby women out there, have a word with yourself.

ChiefEverythingOfficer · 29/01/2024 17:53

KreedKafer · 29/01/2024 16:08

I’ve wondered if he could be on the spectrum

On the spectrum of what? The spectrum of being a cunt?

This ⬆️⬆️⬆️

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

So so true and very funny.

Seriously though. I have an autistic son, a daughter with ADHD & ASD and a husband with ADHD. It seems that there is nothing that can't be attributed to "being on the spectrum".

But the ableism on this thread is OK?

Chichimcgee · 29/01/2024 17:56

Why is it on here people always say ‘DH is lazy/an arse/gross/weird/something negative - he could be on the spectrum’

NO. Your husband is all that because he is.

People who are autistic can be and are hardworking, clean, loving, caring, passionate and a whole host of amazing things. Stop linking negative behaviours to autism, it’s offensive and damaging.

Fuck me 😂😂 that's a winner

Mic drop! 👍🤣🤣🤣🤣

Louoby · 29/01/2024 17:59

Toilet brushes are gross. I have a bottle of Bleech by each toilet and have told him to squirt Bleech around the toilet bowl when he's done. Works wonders

You are the one who is ignorant if your first thought when someone is being lazy or gross is ‘I bet they’re on the spectrum’
it is you who is ignorant, thinking every autistic person struggles like that and it is you who is ignorant allowing ‘on the spectrum’ to be used when anything negative is mentioned. It is offensive and damaging to the autistic community.

WaterHound · 29/01/2024 18:10

catelynjane · 29/01/2024 14:28

Why do you think being lazy, selfish and unhygienic means he's on the spectrum?

That's pretty offensive, tbh.

It is really OP.

Crackoncrackerjack · 29/01/2024 18:14

Toilet brushes used with bleach are fine, hygiene fanatic mnetters are batshit

pinoco · 29/01/2024 18:15

After using a toilet brush you flush it, once or twice until it's clean, then you put it back in the holder that has either bleach or toilet cleaner in it. This is for the brush to sit in so there's no shit soup. Replace brush once every 3 - 6 months and replace the bleach or toilet cleaner weekly.

It wasn’t my first thought. I didn’t say ‘every autistic person’. Some people with autism struggle with hygienic tasks, often due to processing (sensory or otherwise). You can be offended by misinterpretation of my words if you choose but I’d be more offended by the idea that some see executive or processing dysfunction as ‘lazy’ or ‘being a cunt’ 🤷‍♀️

Mummyofthewildones · 29/01/2024 18:17

I told mine if he didn't start cleaning his skids off the bowl I'd upload them to social media and tag him I'm the picture....never had a problem since 🤣

MariaLuna · 29/01/2024 18:18

It's why I love living alone.

No grown up men to deal with who never got their shit - HA! - together.

C1N1C · 29/01/2024 18:27

He's a guy... they have a natural proclivity for aiming for the streaks and cleaning it away that way.

😎

caringcarer · 29/01/2024 18:32

Remember, buy him a new novelty one with his name on and wrap up and gift it tonight for birthday or next Xmas.

MamaGhina · 29/01/2024 18:36

@KreedKafer 🤣

OP just point out the shit to him. Every. Single. Time. I think he’ll start to remember.
