How to shift a grumpy mood?!

I’m feeling a bit grumpy this weekend, just tired, little run down, conscious I’m in a bit of a bad mood and don’t want to take it out on others. How do you pick your mood up if you are feeling a little grumpy?!

Grumpy mood is often really a simmering sense of resentment at real injustice that we've been socialized into thinking we can't express.

What made you feel that way? Is your body telling you that you need to be alone rather than with others?

Quick mood boosters are a walk, a shower/bath, writing things out in a diary, looking at comedy clips or cute video clips etc. or some kind of sexual activity!

Yoga. I fucking hate exercise and force myself to go, but I always come out of the class feeling less grumpy and more positive.

I usually go for a run. It gives me time to think or, if not think, at least just be concentrating on running rather than on other problems or worries. I think exercise generally is a bit of a silver bullet for low mood, however you choose to exercise. Apart from the physical effects of adrenaline and endorphins etc, it’s just harder to be glum when you’re out in the fresh air and nature; or when you’re at a yoga class and having to focus on your body rather than what’s in your head; or when you’re feeling proud of yourself because you just added extra weight to your squat and did a whole extra rep in each set.

But sometimes I also just find my mood is cheered by watching an episode of Judge Judy and hearing some of the truly bonkers arguments people have twisted themselves into to convince themselves they don’t have to pay their friend back money.
