Having coffee with a friend this morning. She had an apple crumble flavour scone. She put strawberry jam on it. Without any butter or cream.

I prefer them with just butter. But plain jam is just wrong!

I agree with you completely! Cream and jam, fine. Butter and jam, fine. Butter only, fine. Just jam? Very strange!

My husband has jam without butter on his toast too. Do you think that's sufficient grounds for divorce? Who are these weirdos??

Plus everyone knows it's raspberry jam for scones!!!

I'd just have butter with that, not jam & definitely not just jam.

I wouldn't have an apple crumble scone (weird) but I always just put jam on plain scones. I don't like butter or cream.

Plain scone: pref cream and jam, if not then butter and jam.

Flavoured sweet scone: just butter or cream, no jam.

Cheese scone: abomination

I always wonder where such strong opinions about scones come from. The scone marketing board must be stacked full of geniuses!
