DD3 is going to be 8 on Sunday, we are having her party on Saturday, obvious theme all about Easter ETC.

DD3 has just thrown up every where (well in a bucket) she has a very very high temp, her ears are hurting and so is her head!

Now I am a person who has only just recently started making plans as before I was so scared that my DDs would be ill - well sick TBH, but recently things have become so much easier and now this!

I will have to take tomorrow off work (not that I am that bothered by that as my DDs come first) but I have just agreed to DD sleeping in my bed and let DH have her bed!

Please Please let this be an ear infection and not a bug! PLEASE, otherwise I will cancel her party on Saturday, and that will really upset her. Have already told her that she can take her sweeties in on Tuesday instead of tommorrow, and her middle sister is going to take her Easter egg in for her Teacher (and she was so chuffed as I got the Teachers name on it!)

Sorry for the rant, but why me? (I know it has to be someone, I would rather wish sickness was banned in my life!

What a pain, but she is quite likely to be better by Saturday whatever it is. Fingers crossed xx

WinkyWinkola · 19/03/2008 23:21

Take her to the GPs in the AM or ASAP. She may need antibiotics. If she gets antibiotics, they may start working very quickly.

But, do you have the email addresses or phone numbers of her party guests' mothers? CIf you can, contact them, warn them that the party may be cancelled but you will be in touch. Otherwise they are to assume the party is still on.

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:21

Yes but if its a bug, then I have 2 more DDs and I really really could not stage a party knowing we could be contagious!

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:22

I do have most of them, luckily. They are a very good group of parents luckily so will understand!

WinkyWinkola · 19/03/2008 23:22

The other DDs will have to stay away from the party. It's DD3's day and if she's well enough for it, then surely you can make it up to the other two girls?

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:23

Keep thinking that tomorrow is Friday! Derrrrr!

She has 2 whole days to recover!

Nope your not being unreasonable. its amazing how utterly shit things can turn out sometimes.
At least you ranting here and not at DD (mind you she'd probaly just throw up over you anyway, which would really piss you off!)
All you can do is dose her up with the mystical potion that is calpol and hope for the best.
Good luck

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:25

Absolutely see where you are coming from Winky, just relying on DH, and MIL for transport as we are egg rolling in another town, so need the adults to drive. Have no one else to have the other 2 DDs.

windygalestoday · 19/03/2008 23:25

let her sleep on dhs side of the bed in case she is sick gain

bluejelly · 19/03/2008 23:27

The others may not get it though. I wouldnt mind my dd going to a party where the birthday girl was recovering from an illness or even where her sisters were ill. People are most infectious before they display symptoms anyway and these things are spread around school pretty regularly!
Try not to worry

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:28

Windy she is asleep on DHs side!!!

I cant believe how hot she is, she has no covers on her - nothing!

I cant believe I have not gone screaming into the conservatory shouting WHY ME why ME, that is my normal reaction!

You are right about at least I am not ranting at DD!

OP posts:
windygalestoday · 19/03/2008 23:29

awww pinky i hope this is the worst of it and tomorrow shes a lot better xxxx

Solitaire · 19/03/2008 23:31

Kids do get over these things amazingly quickly, 60-70% of childhood earaches clear in 24 hours WITHOUT ANTIBIOTICS. (sorry for the aggrssion, but over use of antibiotics is one of my pet hates, they csn't cure viral infections, which most childhood illness is)
Personal rant over

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:33

Windy so do I.

I feel a dreadful mother as normally she is in bed by 7:30 and tonight, DH and I popped over to Homebase after she had been to Brownies and did not get back until 8:40. That is when she really began to feel unwell, and I put it down to tiredness.

She was sick in her plastic rubbish bin and then brought it downstairs telling us she had been sick!

Have you tried putting a fan in the room to cool her down??

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:35

Absolutely Solitaire, I will only take my DDs to the DRs if they have raging temps, screaming etc. I hate the thought of ABs being pumped into them.

DDs think it is a huge treat to go to the DRs - honest!

OP posts:
pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:36

We have no heating on at the moment - DH never likes the thermostat higher than 14. She is in my room and the window is open. She is not in a hot house.

Solitaire · 19/03/2008 23:37

racking my brains to try and help you? Fell the positive vibes flowing you way .

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:42

Cheers chuck!

Just trying to gather the nerve to go to bed! This is a new thing for me sleeping with a sick child.

I started it when DD1 was young, if she was sick (vomit) then she either slept with me or DH. (I had a cousin die in the night because he choked on his vomit- He was epiletic, but even still, it has haunted me ever more!)

Good fun having kids isn't. they don't tell you about these bits in the pregnancy books. Oh no its all soft, cuddly babies, not puking kids!

windygalestoday · 19/03/2008 23:51

pinky we always do that too .......so much so ds1 who is 14 automatically got in our bed (well trained on his dds side lol) when he was poorly its reassuring all round i think

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:53

Thanks guys. Much appreciated.

Really do not think its a bug, she hasn't been sick again, just feel guilty about her being sick on her own, without any mither! bless!

mehdismummy · 19/03/2008 23:54

hey pink. How my home town? My ds has just had exactly the same thing. Started monday night he was like a hot water bottle. Stripped him to just a vest and alternated between kapol and nurofen. Took him to gp and she said he had slight ear infection. He has anti b and his temp is now normal was practically from last night. Just let her take day off school tomorrow and sleep it off. There are loads of virus about at mo. Good luck for sat. Bugger we coming down next friday. Always miss a party!

pinkbubble · 19/03/2008 23:57

LOl Med, took that Pinkchampagne out today after work, we had a really nice Italian lunch.

Deal is great thanks!

Lets hope she is ok! (fingers crossed emotion!)

will keep my fingers crossed too. Hope pinkchampagne is ok. Feel incredibly guilty for losing contact and she was going through such a rough time with wankface. So glad you have been there for her. The girl i use to know was so so sweet it makes me mad to think that he treated her like that. Actually wanna slap him again! Hopefully we might get to meet when i am down
