Just in the interests of balance, following a previous thread about negative vibes, AIBU to ask which celebrities have you NOT met but when you watch or listen to them you get a really positive vibe from them? Mine would be Dolly Parton, Craig Revel Horwood, Ian Hislop and Tom Hanks. They just come across to me as genuine good people.

I think a lot of people would say this, but I find it strange. I think West Wing fans sometimes see him as really being President Bartlet, but if you go back in his career before that he played a lot of angry, troubled or creepy characters. He’s talked about struggling with alcoholism. He produced Charlie Sheen. I think he obviously does have nice qualities, like playing a gay character sympathetically very long before that was a fashionable thing for straight actors to do, but I don’t think he’s just a nice, uncomplicated person.

I didn't say he was uncomplicated? I do think he's an intelligent man, who has integrity. It's not entirely his fault his son is an idiot. I'm sure all of the people mentioned above have flaws.

Ricky Gervais, Chris Packham, Paul O’Grady.

You like dogs too? Grin

Brian may seems a good shout too!

I have met him. He's also very tall as well as nice, kind, and clever.

Re Martin Sheen-agreed. I don't see how playing "angry, troubled or creepy characters" effectively makes you anything but a good actor.

Ryan Reynolds and Blake Lively. Absolutely no experience of them at all other than through the media, but they just seem so nice.

I will admit that if someone is in the west wing and isn't Mandy I like them, but Martin Sheen genuinely seems nice.

"And isn't Mandy" 😂😂😂😂😂 that poor actress!

At least the West Wing fans hatred is confined to a totally fictional character!😂

I adore Dermot O'Leary. Seems like such a lovely person x

Agree. I saw him once and was staring! He was really cool and just said hi with a big smile.

Definitely Ian Hislop. I met him at a wedding a few years ago and have had a crush on him ever since. He was so polite and charming and laughed at all my jokes. Made me feel amazing.

KarenNotAKaren · 24/01/2024 18:51

Alexander Armstrong. He just comes across as a totally lovely good egg. I see so many stories of shitty lazy awful men who won’t even change nappies and sit on their Xbox while their wife struggles. It’s like a pandemic of crap men! But I bet AA is the type happy to do all the night feeds, dishes, cleaning etc and didn’t behave like a martyr over it. I bet he tells his wife she looks lovely all the time and buys her chocolate when she has PMS. (I may have overthought this, I just adore him!)

It helps that he’s easy on the eye.

I've never seen her in anything else i don't think. But i would bristle if i did. Such a terrible part, idk what they were trying to 'achieve' with her. Must google her to see what else she's been in!

Her name is apparently Moira Kelly and she seems to have lead a blameless life, voiced Nala in Lion King.

Poor woman, so badly written/irritating/promoting of homicidal mania in WW that she must have been drowning in that part!

Yeah. Although, no such thing as bad publicity and all that!

Maybe, but then that applies equally to playing President Bartlet. He’s an actor, he’s not that person.

Charlie Sheen is a convicted woman beater, not just an ‘idiot’. That’s not necessarily Martin’s fault, but it does raise some questions about how he was raised.

No, it doesn't really. He's been married for 60 odd years, has other children (at least one famous, Emilio) who attract no negative attention and has a pretty good civil rights/causes record.

Unless you think Charlie Sheen's well known issues and felonies are entirely down to his parents fault?

Mambo19866 · 24/01/2024 19:25

Suprised no one has mentioned Keanu Reeves. One of those people you keep hearing stories about their generosity but refuses to acknowledge it if someone finds out.

KarenNotAKaren · 24/01/2024 19:31

God no wonder I’m confused, reading this thread I’ve been mixing up Martin Sheen and Michael Sheen!

So on that note to answer the OP: Michael Sheen! What a wonderful man he is and even though he could be a millionaire if he fancies he gives away almost all his earnings

GlazeAway · 24/01/2024 19:42

Rod Stewart (and Penny Lancaster)everything I've read about them has been positive.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 24/01/2024 19:44

I;m betting my life savings on Steve Pemberton ( Inside No9 , League of Gents, Whitechapel, Happy Valley and lots more ) being utterly lovely .

JMSA · 24/01/2024 19:52

Have just seen a photo of Dave Grohl serving food to the homeless. It's obvious that he was completely unaware it was being taken.

JMSA · 24/01/2024 19:53

There's lots I think, but Keanu Reeves is the person who jumped out at me when I read the thread title.

Comedycook · 24/01/2024 19:53

Vanessa Feltz

A few people have now, myself included
