Just in the interests of balance, following a previous thread about negative vibes, AIBU to ask which celebrities have you NOT met but when you watch or listen to them you get a really positive vibe from them? Mine would be Dolly Parton, Craig Revel Horwood, Ian Hislop and Tom Hanks. They just come across to me as genuine good people.

Bradley Walsh. Roger Federer. Rafa Nadal. Chris Tarrant. Several of them from Strictly!

catscalledbeanz · 24/01/2024 00:27

Yes Daniel Sloss!

Re: Brian May. I once met him in a coffee shop. Ran up to him, told him I loved him and the work he does with a certain animal. Showed him my work badge which showed my surname (the animal) and ran away cackling.

2 days later I’m sat in a cafe in Kings Cross and who comes and sits at the table next time me??? And instead of looking in horror at the woman who had previously accosted him, smiled at me and said the animal name! I love him.

Ben Fogle, he seems like a really nice, down to earth guy.

I’ve worked with Miriam Margolyes and she is the exact opposite of how you think she’s going to be in real life. Still lovely though.

same for Bob Mortimer. He’s just a diamond

Second Ian Hislop and ofc the queen of queens Dolly Parton.

To add, Davina McCall, Claudia Winkelman, Sara Cox, Paul Brunson, David Schwimmer, Trisha Goddard, Sinita, Steve Lamacq, Jamie Dornan, Graham Norton, Paloma Faith, Charlotte Church, Julia Roberts

ooh am intrigued – what’s the expectation and what’s the opposite?! I have seen her on some longer-form programmes, where she was not the main subject (so less frenetic than say a chat show and less pressure to perform) and she seemed very calm and warm and thoughtful – not like the caricature you see on GN

I'm interested in the overlap of this thread and the other- as some here are people who deeply trouble me for no definable reasons.

My good vibes are Matt tebbut, Maggie smith, jenni Murray and Germaine Greer.

Germaine Greer! I LOVE Germaine Greer! 🥰

SpeculatingRooks · 24/01/2024 00:46

Keith, Rich and Siobahn from Pottery Throw down.
Jay Blades and the Teddy Bear Ladies from repair shop, actually all of them from repair shop.
The two loveliest programmes on TV.

VincentVanGoth · 24/01/2024 00:52

@PabloPawcasso thats exactly it! She’s a very lovely lady, polite and caring and quite softly spoken. Not at all as brash as you’d expect.

this was 20ish years ago though, she might have gotten brasher with age!

Scrumbleton · 24/01/2024 00:55

Jamie Dornan- very funny and self deprecating

RantyAnty · 24/01/2024 00:57

Dolly Parton, she's such a kind and genuine person.

Sadly I have never met Brian May but I would love to!

PabloPawcasso · 24/01/2024 01:21

Sarah Jessica Parker… and come to think of it Cynthia Nixon

and ofc Kim Catrall

Lifebeganat50 · 24/01/2024 01:36

I can confirm that Joanna Lumley is indeed lovely! Well she was when she came through my supermarket checkout in about 1988😂

ChedderGorgeous · 24/01/2024 01:36

For me it's Robert "Bobby" Shelly. The way he nursed that chicken back from the brink, as documented on C5 vets show was remarkable. Good egg.

LusaBatoosa · 24/01/2024 01:47

Sandi Toksvig. Danny DeVito. Keanu Reeves. Denzel Washington. Emma Thompson. Issa Rae. Janelle Monae. Sharon Horgan (I want to be her friend).

Christmasbird · 24/01/2024 01:48

Florence pugh

I find both Bradley Walsh and Chris Tarrant really disturbing and I don’t know why.

Roiesin57 · 24/01/2024 01:53

Tom Hanks, Rylan Clark, the presenters of Country file whose names I forget, Zara Tindell,

MariaVT65 · 24/01/2024 01:55

Julie Andrews!!

RobertaFirmino · 24/01/2024 02:08

Floella Benjamin

PyongyangKipperbang · 24/01/2024 02:16

Greg Davies
Dawn and Jennifer (together or apart)
Ian Hislop
Ryan Reynolds
Gary Barlow
Jo Rowling
Imelda Staunton
Maggie Smith
@Glinner

And..... RIP
Victoria Wood......always felt like she could be a really good friend if you were lucky enough to know her
Alan Rickman......Same, and him and Victoria were very good friends which proves it to me
George Michael. I know he did a lot of stupid dangerous things but it seems like the only person he really hurt was himself. I think he had a good heart but seemed either impulsive or self destructive. The fact that the people who loved him still loved him when he died says that he wasnt a dyed in the wool dickhead to me.

nohopehere · 24/01/2024 02:20

Adele and Rylan

Dunno about Bradley Walsh but my father used to run a Regatta that CT was hosting and apparently he was a total wanker. And my father was known to have more than a few "do you know who I am?!" moments himself at the time so if he cant stand CT I am prepared to take his word for it!
