Evri - wrong postcode HELP

finished31 · 19/01/2024 19:16

Not sure we're to post so not technically AIBU.

DD placed an order with Etsy and has put the wrong postcode down for delivery. Think DA3 and she put DA1.
However, this postcode doesn't exists.

Evri keep emailing saying we can't deliver and she has only discovered the error today.

Any advice? She's done an online call back with Evri so waiting for that. Seller not helpful and it was pretty expensive

I imagine the seller will receive the package back and I'd just ask for a refund (minus their postage costs..) once it's been received. If you still want the item I'd expect to pay the seller for the second lot of postage.

Not sure there's much else to do if the incorrect address was entered by the buyer, but happy to be corrected.

I'm hoping this will happen. I'm just wondering how Evri would even accept the parcel with an invalid postcode?

They won't check postcodes when someone buys a postage label, or drops it at a drop off point. Instead they'll check part way through their system, anything incorrect tends to end up at the depot as they can't assign it a route. Which is where your parcel probably is. Not sure on whether they're allowed to search for the correct post code or not, might be outside their remit.

@hellojelly oh okay. Do you think it will go back to the sender?

As long as the sender bought the postage label online and entered their return info, or stuck their return address on the package I would assume so!

finished31 · 19/01/2024 19:34

@hellojelly so the sender has just replied saying she didn't put her return details on the parcel and if DD send another £2.99 she will mail again.

She may have put them in when buying the postage label though.
Sounds like if she's saying she'll post again for 2.99 she's probably had the parcel back?

finished31 · 19/01/2024 19:40

@hellojelly I think so too.

I had an evri parcel I sent fail go deliver 3 times (flat with limited access!!) in December. I'm still waiting for it to get back to me..... Impossible to speak to a human at Evri

I made the same mistake with a river island parcel just before Christmas. I had my address but wrote my old postcode by mistake. It went back to river island and I was issued a refund within days.
