without fail, telling me that 'at times like this, when the market slows down' that I need to know that my estate agent is doing everything he can to promote and sell my property - it isn't for sale and I sure as hell wouldn't choose them to be my fecking estate agent... I think I might have to send a stern email...

mine came through the door again this morning too - I wouldn't be too sure he could sell it if he saw the state of it inside at the moment lol

we get those everyweeek. thing is we are in a council property, and every single bungalow in this area is council/HA so we cant sell them lol.

One of my first jobs in this country was at an estate agent, and I had to send those stupid letters. If they come addressed to the property, then it's probably worth phoning them up and saying you don't want to receive any more of their mailings. I had quite a few call up and ask us not to send anything again, and promptly took them off the mailing list. If they're just shoving letters through the door and not using the post--a lot harder to get them to stop. Straight to the recycling then!

I personally think it's dumb and can't believe they really generate business this way, but I suppose it's just old-fashioned spam....someone must fall for it.

So no, I don't think YABU.

can you post it back to them with no stamp so they have to pay?

MaryAnnSmotheredinchocolate · 22/03/2008 16:42

they're hand delivered - I think I'll leap out of the door next week and shove the thing back at them !

We got about 15 letters a week from Foxton's - some addressed to me, some to Mrs Downstairs, some to The Owner of flat 1 or flat 2 or upstairs flat and ground flat (surprised there wasn't one for Quaint Garden Flat or Wonderfully Refurbished Maisonette) - I scrawled return to sender on all of them and posted them back. They kept coming. Then I wrote (in fury) on one that I would never ever sell my flat through Foxtons not even if they were the last estate agent on the planet and for them to PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE take me off their mailing list!!!!!!!!! (try fitting that in large angry writing on an envelope).

I no longer receive letters from Foxtons.

Phew. Happy to get that off me chest.
