I'm 39, naturally dark haired and going very grey, very fast!

I had blonde highlights previously which didn't suit me at all so I went back dark again. I've been having my roots tinted and the length toned to try and keep the highlighted look. However, my hair is growing really fast and the grey around my hairline is coming in within 2 weeks of dying it, so my hair is now 3 different colours and looks horrendous!

I'm not ready to embrace the grey yet but don't know what to do with it. How would you tackle this?

Have you thought about silver highlights rather than blonde

Your best bet is to embrace the grey or accept the fact that you will have roots. Or get a wig. The reality is that it's a natural process and there's nothing you can do to stop it.

You could always see a hairdresser to have the old colour stripped from your hair and your whole head re-done, but you'll be in the same situation in two weeks time so this requires a surfeit of time and money.

I hadn't considered silver highlights but I've just had a look at some images online and I think this might be the way to go. I'd really love to keep my hair dark but the time and cost involved in the upkeep of it is too much now. Thanks for the suggestions.

I'd accept the grey, you'll be chasing forever now.

I was just thinking yesterday how many young people are choosing to have grey (silver) hair. Embrace it! Have some silver highlights put through to disguise the line between the dyed and undyed hair. You will feel so much freer once you don't have to dye it any more.
