DEPO INJECTION HELP

DEPOHELPP · 17/01/2024 09:24

Sorry to be dramatic but posting here for traffic. I've asked on various other pages with no response so this was my next option. Also I haven't spoke to GP as i don't want to waste an appointment someone else may need more!

Here goes, I've been on the depo shot for nearly a year now. Last one was 6-7 weeks ago. No bleeding up until now 😫 and guess what, I go away for my birthday on Monday. Is there anything I can do to stop the bleeding? Norethisterone? Ibuprofen? I realise you aren't medical professionals (some of you might be).

Just wondered is this had happened to anyone else also?

Thank you to anyone who can offer advice/reassurance

Ugh that is annoying, a period before going on holiday is not ok 😂 you can call your doctors and ask them to prescribe you tablets to take which will stop you bleeding. You basically take them to skip your period that month. Maybe ask for a phone appointment with a doctor or nurse? Enjoy your holiday

Norethisterone will stop it. I usually buy some if I'm holidaying when period is due

DEPOHELPP · 17/01/2024 10:17

Thanks. I'll give norethisterone a try.

Thanks all

Your Gp may prescribe it if you can get an appointment so quickly, otherwise you can order it online (via Lloyd's pharmacy or another online pharmacy) and it can be sent to your local boots or another suggested pharmacy for next day delivery (pick up). I don't think you can buy it normally over the counter though, but that could have changed since Oct 2023 when I had to get hold of it online and have it delivered to boots

Just put an order in through superdrug. Fingers crossed!

sorry I was speed reading your OP and got the wrong end of the stick. I bet it will only last a couple of days at most so you’ll probably be ok for Monday - fingers crossed

DEPOHELPP · 17/01/2024 11:49

Thank you

I read it as you’d been bleeding 6-7 weeks! Sorry! My mistake!! Not paying enough attention!! You’re fine x
