To think unsightly bushy nose hairs should be banned?

Nothing grosses me out more than a person with a full bush protruding from their nose. You just think to yourself how these people get ready in the morning, look in the mirror and then think it’s acceptable to leave the house with disgusting black or grey hairs sticking out. Only takes a few seconds once a month to remove every nose hair you have and for you to look significantly more presentable!

I mean, YANBU, but how much of an issue is this for you, OP…?

I don’t even notice people’s nose hair. Let alone be so bothered that I’m moved to start a thread about it. 🤷🏻‍♀️

"Only takes a few seconds once a month to remove every nose hair you have and for you to look significantly more presentable!"

You've obviously not got PCOS or been through the menopause!

Marblessolveeverything · 12/01/2024 20:43

And you overrule their body autonomy how?

Perhaps you haven't been aware but these days it is expected people to not judge appearance, accept people's choices and be less shallow. You may benefit from a bit of reeducation.

greengreengrass25 · 12/01/2024 20:44

Surely you don't want to put your health in jeopardy

LooksLikeIPickedTheWrongWeekToQuitDrinking · 12/01/2024 20:47

What a horrible, body-shaming thread.

Body shaming??? How is it body shaming! I’m asking people to go shave their nostrils of protruding hair.

Like someone else said. I don’t want fat uncle Harry to give me a kiss on the cheek and my nose is getting a chin tickle but not from his moustache.

Do you secretly hate him 😂

Not enough to give him a brain infection, which people are saying it can cause!! Yikes. He's relieved to hear I'll have to stop.

IncompleteSenten · 12/01/2024 20:51

Body shaming is criticising one or more aspects of a person's body, so it could be argued that talking about how gross nose hair is and that people are disgusting fits that term.

It's a broader term than, for example, fat shaming.

thinslicedham · 12/01/2024 20:51

There are lots of things about the human body that aren't exactly attractive. We all have our limits to how much we're willing to suffer for beauty. I don't love nose hairs, but a trimmer is as far as I'd go. The thought of pulling them out with hot wax makes me feel ill. I'm not a fan of the idea of waxing at all, anywhere, incidentally. Worse than the hair, by far.

Which sounds like a service I'd charge for but I didn't mean it like that

Northernsouloldies · 12/01/2024 20:56

Waxed nose, flamed ears, bloody hair sprouts when you get older, my Dw thinks it looks hilarious, me with waxed cotton buds up my nose.

PolllyPockett · 12/01/2024 20:59

Nose hair trimmers cost 8 pounds

Once a month at Turkish barbers whilst getting haircut.

SENDhelp2023 · 12/01/2024 21:05

I like them they tickle😜

PolllyPockett · 12/01/2024 19:40

Haha. Very funny. Comedic genius here so far!

Still think they’re unsightly and people should take better care of themselves.

I was going to say "to each their own" but then you added this twat of a comment.

Who made you judge and jury? I bet there is plenty others could pick apart about you too because we each see beauty in different things. You will only be perfect to yourself

Why are you going to a Turkish barbers?

There is a good reason we have them, and it's to repel germs and dirt.
Also, plucking them can create infections and can even result in serious illness (your brain is right behind there).

They obviously don't need to be so long though, or everyone would have long nose hair from birth or puberty?

Is there a reason for ear hair?

Plucking sounds excruciatingly painful. Trimmers are available.

XenoBitch · 12/01/2024 21:10

YABU.

They are not harming anyone or anything except your own personal taste.

Cantrushart · 12/01/2024 21:11

And yet if you were to tell people to stop painting on weird big eyebrows, injecting jelly into their lips or squeezing themselves into inappropriately tight clothing - all active choices - you would be call every name under the sun. Nose hair is not an active choice. It can be the result of hormonal imbalance, poor eyesight, unsteady hands or just a lack of time or concern with personal appearance. Maybe people have better things to do.

Wytchy · 12/01/2024 21:14

I knew you'd get lots of terse responses, OP, telling you to respect people's tufty nostriled autonomy.

FlutterShite · 12/01/2024 21:16

@Moier I read that to say that your nose hair is joining up with your eyebrows, and thought I'd found a kindred spirit!

Why shouldn't they?

Grazyna80 · 12/01/2024 21:24

I’m with you on that one OP, I find them nasty too. I can’t help it! I’m slightly short sighted though, so I don’t notice it much. Mine included.

Shaving their nostrils? 😳 I don’t have any hair protruding from my nostrils yet (fully appreciating that I’m pre menopausal) but hopefully we agree that that sounds grim and have some sympathy?!
