Will try to be concise, but not leave anything out. I bought a baby toy from a seller on vinted, she messaged a few days later telling me she had mixed up the shipping labels so I would receive the wrong item, I can request a return once I've collected it from the Evri collection place and she would pay the return postage. Bit annoying, but these things happen, appreciate she warned me etc, thought she would just sort a refund and be done.
I collected it, marked the problem on Vinted, and importantly explained in the box that while I'm happy to return the other parcel I don't have a printer, my evri shops label printer isn't currently working so I can only return it via the post office. (The parcel I got is quite bulky so would cost around £5, probably not even worth it). She must not have read it and sent me a shipping label for Evri.
Vinted support response is that I need to return it for a refund, seller is saying the same.
It seems like my options are to keep the other parcel (something I don't want/need and worth maybe £3?), and have wasted £9, still have to buy another baby toy that I wanted.
Walk an hour to the library to print thelabel, then another 40 minutes to the shop to return it. Or spend another £5 at the post office returning it, to get my refund.
AIBU to think this is rubbish considering it isn't even my parcel?
I've been polite to the seller as it was an honest mistake, but getting quite annoyed that her mistake has been shifted on to me

That is annoying but these things happen suppose and good she realised in advance. Is there not another Evri shop locally with a printer? I have loads within a 5/10 mins drive but they could just be me. Also the shop should replace the printer soon I’d have thought. Our local one broke the other day and Evri delivered a new one in a few days.

getofftheplane · 12/01/2024 13:44

Surely the Evri printer will be fixed in a matter of days?

Vintedproblem · 12/01/2024 13:49

I asked about it when I collected it, knowing I would need to return it, they said its been trouble since it was installed it hasn't worked half the time they've had it, its a bit on and off.
It's also a 45 minute walk to that shop, I only had it delivered there as I knew I would be in that area doing oyher things and thought would save a few £ with a couple of orders. Even if the printer works in the next few days it means spending an hour and a half to do so , when I could have just popped in the post office that I walk past every day

^ this to be honest.

Failing that do you not have any family, friends or neighbours that could print a single label for you?

idontlikealdi · 12/01/2024 13:52

My local evri printer has been down since November

mummyh2016 · 12/01/2024 13:53

I don't think you choose how to receive a return on vinted, it automatically does it for the same method you used for delivery. Other than the seller sending you a Royal Mail label out of vinted there isn't a lot she can do. If the evri label isn't used the return will cancel automatically and funds released to the seller as it will show you having returned it.

mummyh2016 · 12/01/2024 13:54

A bit late now but if you hadn't collected it it would've got returned after 10 days anyway.

Moier · 12/01/2024 14:01

If l buy something on vinted and it doesn't or is wrong.. l re advertise and re sell it... on there or market place.
Easier than returning.
More often than not l usually get more than l paid... less stress and hassle.

ClimbingHydrangea · 12/01/2024 14:02

Do you have a closer Evri shop? You don’t have to go back to that specific one.

I actually asked her that but she said I had to collect it to request a return, although I had another parcel to collect so they might not have let me leave one anyway.
Customer service is just quoting return policy to me repeatedly. I just feel like this is different, I haven't recieved my parcel at all. Instead of being sent what I ordered I've just been sent a problem to add to my to do list 😅

This ^^ surely there's another evri shop nearby? If not maybe ask a neighbour if you can print the shipping label?

My local one has been broken for 3 months

anon2022anon · 12/01/2024 14:13

Just be careful that you aren't actually being charged for the refund. I haven't had an issue for a few months, so things could have changed since I last did one, but when I've had to return items, the return postage has been out of my refund. The sellers have (mostly) refunded me via paypal, but thats been with agreement, theres no incentive for them to do so, Vinted doesn't make them.

ManchesterLu · 12/01/2024 14:16

You must know someone who has a printer you could use to print the label? Work? School? Friend? Family? Neighbour? Put a post on local Facebook group and ask if someone can do it for you? I'd do it in an instant if someone needed help and I was able to offer it.

LondonBusGirl · 12/01/2024 14:25

I'd probably just keep the unwanted parcel and relist it myself, if that's an option.

Has she got another buyer waiting for it and that's why she needs it back?

I'm assuming it was sold to someone else, hence the label mix up, and still wants to sent it. It's a changing mat, probably worth one or two pound more than the return postage.
Does anyone know if I would be refunded my full payment, or just the item cost and lose out on the postage? I've realised without the postage part the refund wouldn't even be worth the time it will take me to sort it

Everyone saying 'just go to the next nearest Evri shop' - my nearest is a 20 minute ferry ride away. They're not always everywhere and easily accessible! Most annoying thing about companies using Evri for returns! 😆

ClimbingHydrangea · 12/01/2024 14:45

@UngratefulOldCabbage - I asked if OP had a closer one as she said she sent it to that specific one as she was going to be in the area, that’s all.

It's not an unreasonable suggestion, I'd imagine living a ferry ride away is a situation that affects an absolutely miniscule number of the 60 million plus of the UK population 😂
