What am I doing wrong?

I am heavier than I have ever been despite leading an active life. However I was not eating as well as I could so last week in January mode I started to stick to 1200 calories a day and when I exercise ( about 4 to 5 times a week excluding dog walks) I was adding these calories burnt to my total amount so maybe 1400 on an exercise day. However I have gained a 1lb this week when I felt sure I would lose weight. For reference I am 5ft 4 and 11stone 3lb as of this morning so definitely have weight to loose. Please help me understand what I am doing wrong.

Did you have a larger carb meal last night, or eat late? I can find that makes me temporarily put on weight.

Don’t worry about the numbers. Get 3 bits of gift wrap ribbon and put them around your waist, bust and thighs, mark with a pen where they fit. Do this every week and you will see a difference. Also remember intially you loose visceral fat ( the stuff around your organs) that’s the very dangerous fat, you may not notice a difference but that is really important, after that you will start to loose the inch’s.
