Crazy early for kids party?!

9.30am on a Sunday morning.

Thoughts on whether this is a reasonable time or too early for a kids party?

Mega early. I’d hate to be bringing my child to this!

Celticliving · 06/01/2024 20:36

At least you can get on with your day after!

ColettesEarrings · 06/01/2024 20:37

Too early. 11am minimum.

1992H · 06/01/2024 20:37

Depends on the age. I’d prefer this time to 12/1 pm start as that takes the whole day up. We often get 10-12 invites and never feels early so I’m not sure why the extra half hour feels like it sounds too early.

HowDoYouSolveAProblemLikeMyRear · 06/01/2024 20:38

What age is the child?

With 3 year olds parents aren't going to be getting a lie in anyway!

SnowsFalling · 06/01/2024 20:38

What age?

Be fine here, but I had kids who didn't do sleeping in, and we'd have been up since at least 6.

WhatdoIdoTree · 06/01/2024 20:38

Oh I’m doing a 10am on a Sunday.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 06/01/2024 20:39

We had an early party once and everyone said they really liked it - I think it was 10. Meant they could get on with their day afterwards.

Fionaville · 06/01/2024 20:39

Too early for me, although I'd still get DC to it, I'd slightly begrudge the early start on a Sunday.

Hmmmm2018 · 06/01/2024 20:39

Obviously depends on what and where. If it is a specific activity not too far from where guests live sounds reasonable, might as well get it over and done with. If it is miles away then not so good.

Crazykefir · 06/01/2024 20:40

Depends if its in a soft play type place then the parents will understand at home not so much.

sofedupandtiredofthis · 06/01/2024 20:40

Age 2-3

I've hosted a party at this time. Was a total success, twenty kids invited and all turned up. It was for a 5th birthday so lie ins weren't an option for most anyway. I provided coffee and pastries for the parents.

Oh yeah that’s grand imo, most people will have been up for a few hours anyway plus then you can get home in time for naptime if you’re lucky enough to have one that still naps!

Familiaritybreedscontemptso · 06/01/2024 20:41

I accidentally did this when I booked a party for a clock change day without realising - so it was 10am I think which felt early enough but it was old 9am so utterly ridiculous.

Actually it worked fine and everyone came without saying anything but I wouldn’t do it again.

WaltzingWaters · 06/01/2024 20:42

I feel like 10am would just be that bit better. I know it’s only half hour later, but people are slow on a Sunday morning, even if they’re up at 6am with toddlers!

RM2013 · 06/01/2024 20:42

It’s a bit too early. I guess the only good thing is you’d probably be up early anyway and you get to have the rest of the day free

calishire · 06/01/2024 20:42

Id say it's a reasonable time. Lots of 2-3 year olds still have an afternoon nap so I think it makes sense.

Yes at a soft play

Mumaway · 06/01/2024 20:43

I would love that, as my kids get up early and we'd be hanging around otherwise

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 06/01/2024 20:43

I did an early party for a 5th birthday last year and served fruit and pastries. I think everyone came. It didn’t clash with so many sports/swimming lesson commitments.

Celticliving · 06/01/2024 20:43

They will be either working around nap times or that's the only time the soft play was available.

Zimunya · 06/01/2024 20:43

I think it’s fine. As other posters have said, with kids that age it’s not like you get a lie-in anyway. Might as well get up and head out for some fun.

lemondroper · 06/01/2024 20:43

I thought you were going to say 8am! My 2/3 year old would have been long up by then so wouldn't have made a difference if it was 9.30 or 11.

I don't think it's early, but everyone's Sundays are different.

Guibhyl · 06/01/2024 20:44

We have two party invites this term at a local trampoline place where the 4-5 age group party slot is at 9am and you have to turn up 20 mins early to do the health and safety checks etc. So we have to be there at 8.40 and the place is 15-20 mins from us so we’ll be leaving for kids parties at like 8.20am 😩 😩 😩
