Crazy early for kids party?!

9.30am on a Sunday morning.

Thoughts on whether this is a reasonable time or too early for a kids party?

9.30 is hardly the crack of Dawn and I’d be pleased to have an afternoon tbh

but then again mine wake up at 5.45 without fail… 9.30 feels like lunchtime on a bad day 😂

Far too early.

People don't want to rush around and get up early at the weekend!

We are up out walking early at weekend with dog and small children. Lying in isn't an option so we capitalise on the daylight and fresh air!

Newchapterbeckons · 07/01/2024 07:30

I wouldn’t go. It sounds exhausting!

It’s pitch black unless you live elsewhere in the world.

2-3 year olds are generally exhausting creatures anyway. A few hours supervising them at soft play with a chance to drink a warm coffee sounds much less exhausting than entertaining them at home or going out in the rain again.

Nope. A quiet ish coffee at home sounds infinitely more civilised than the hellish screaming at soft play. It’s my idea of pure hell anyway mid afternoon on a winters day and I am in dire need of a break - couldn’t bring myself to do it at that time on a Sunday!

I also think Sundays, especially Sunday mornings are family time. Bring the babies in to bed and relax. Toys and all. I don’t give my Sundays up easily for anyone, and definitely not for soft play.

JeezJerry · 07/01/2024 07:38

It is super early, my DCs have been to a ton of Parties and never that early! But saying that, they're up at 5am so 9:30 feels like Lunchtime in my house anyway!

I would assume the poster means from sunrise if they are mentioning sunlight, or maybe from first light. It's looking light enough to walk outside my window now and the dawn chorus has arrived.

Newchapterbeckons · 07/01/2024 07:39

We live in SW still dark here but getting slightly lighter.

SW England? I'm in the SW and it's currently civil twilight (light enough to read a book outside).

autienotnaughty · 07/01/2024 07:47

At that age it would have worked for me as ds napped 1-3. A bit older and I would have been less keen

ChillysWaterBottle · 07/01/2024 07:48

This seems fine for that age group.

Doppelgangers · 07/01/2024 07:48

It's Sunday morning now and we're all on MN pre 8am presumably because our kids have woken us up at an unsociable hour, as small children frequently do. I'd be quite happy to feck off to soft play in an hour and a halfs time, there's not much relaxing going on here. 😅

Cyclingforcake · 07/01/2024 08:07

We’re up on Saturday for 9am football/gymnastics for older DC so a 9:30 party would be fine for this age group. And home for lunch and get on with the day. What’s not to like?

Fairylights21 · 07/01/2024 08:08

We have a party invite to a climbing place for 9.30 but it’s the only time they do under 5s so i don’t mind. There is no other option for this place. We tend to alternate a lie in at the weekends but even 8am is classed as a lie in for our house which is achievable with this party.

with any party if you don’t want to go then don’t.

Cuwins · 07/01/2024 08:08

Absolutely perfect for us. My soon to be 2 year old has been up since 5:20am and never sleeps past 6:30am.
Irritates me when things for toddlers don't start till after 10- gives us hardly any time before we need to leave for nap time and leaves us hanging around in the morning unable to do anything else.

anothernamechangeagainsndagain · 07/01/2024 08:10

Way too early, mine wouldn't have been up properly, they slept in until 10

FrogsWormsandCaterpillars · 07/01/2024 08:16

Personally I think it’s too early, but I say this as someone who is still in bed and the first one awake, my youngest are 6 and 4.
I prefer a 1-3 party, that way I can give them breakfast, bath them and not have to rush about.

Blondeshavemorefun · 07/01/2024 08:34

Prob with 930/1130 is if they do food kids have lunch at 11 which aren't all hungry for if had breakfast at 839/9 as dd isn't up at 6am like some in her class

So by 1-2 moaning for tea

We went to a party 930/1130 and the amount of left over wasted food was awful as kids aren't hungry /wanting lunch at 11

Give them a smaller/ earlier breakfast ? It ain't rocket science !

ChampagneSuperDrinker · 07/01/2024 09:40

Probably my preferred time for this age as we've already been up hours and means we still have the rest of the day. Personally I think the worst time for this age is early afternoon, we went to a 1-3 recently which was right over most of the children's nap times!

Yalta · 07/01/2024 09:41

*Bernadinetta · Yesterday 21:02

Those saying awful time, what’s awful about it really? Surely no one has 2 year olds that lie in til after 9am*

Mine did as they would be up half the night

endofanera23 · 07/01/2024 09:42

riotlady · 06/01/2024 20:41

Oh yeah that’s grand imo, most people will have been up for a few hours anyway plus then you can get home in time for naptime if you’re lucky enough to have one that still naps!

This is what I was thinking!

NewShoes · 07/01/2024 09:43

9.30 is fine! We’re doing a party for my DC soon that starts at 10 on a Sunday, hadn’t thought that was early at all for anyone with kids!
