bctf123 · 06/01/2024 14:44

I live in a town with a lot of dangerous driving and it riles me
A couple of months ago I saw 2 very dangerous manoeuvres by an Audi drivers and the second was a sort of bullying.
I driver for my job and found out where he lives.
I think it's a man in 20s/30s.

He comes from a community which respects elders but can be stupid. Should I knock on the door to speak to the dad privately or should I leave it

Aibu to go up there and have a discreet word?

OP posts:

Am I being unreasonable?

Don't be so ridiculous!

If you see dangerous driving, take down the number plate and log with non emergency police.

Why provoke someone who obviously is they type of person to not care what others think?

JenniferJuniper80 · 06/01/2024 14:47

Do you understand what ODFOD means?

Sirzy · 06/01/2024 14:47

Unless you are a police officer doing your job then you would be very unreasonable. And even if you where you would be unreasonable to ask Daddy to have a word!

Sparklfairy · 06/01/2024 14:51

He comes from a community which respects elders but can be stupid

What on earth does this mean?

Oh I think it’s quite clear what the OP means. Classic dog whistle Hmm

No, OP, give any evidence of dangerous driving to the police, don’t go wading into any ‘community’ asking the driver’s Dad to have a word, that’s just bloody stupid.

I'm genuinely trying to think of a community apparently known for their stupidity. Maybe I just live a sheltered life.

Saucery · 06/01/2024 15:01

It’s the ‘respects elders’ bit @Sparklfairy . I see snidey references like this frequently on open social media groups. It’s a bit pathetic, really.

meganorks · 06/01/2024 15:04

If you are really fed up with dangerous drivers get a dash cam and when you spot anything dodgy upload it to the police website where they prosecute anyone they can.

Do you think finding out where someone lives and turning up on their doorstep is ever likely to be well recieved?!

MadamVastra · 06/01/2024 15:04

The only good part of this post is your correct spelling of discreet 😂

Don’t go to his house just report him.

He comes from a community which respects elders but can be stupid
What does this part mean though?

MadeOfAllWork · 06/01/2024 15:21

So you saw someone driving like a twat so rather than thinking ‘what a twat’ and getting in with your life you tracked him down?

If you are one of these people who goes around thinking you are the best driver and everyone else is an idiot then get a dash cam.

RobertaFirmino · 06/01/2024 15:23

Last time someone knocked on my door wrt dangerous driving, it was a policeman telling me Mum was dead. If the driving was really that bad then don't fuck around thinking 'Ooh, I'm older than him, I deserve respect', note the reg and let the cops know.

WRT 'respecting elders', I'd like to point out that other trees are equally important.

Topseyt123 · 06/01/2024 15:28

Note his registration and report it to the police using their 101 number. Don't go to the house to report him to his parents, that would be ridiculously stupid and asking for trouble.

lostonmars · 06/01/2024 15:28

"A community which respects elders but can be stupid" what on earth does this mean???

Looks like many of us are also wondering that.

Do you understand what ODFOD means?

Why are you always so fucking rude and unpleasant to people? Like seriously what is missing in your life that this is your release?

LenaLamont · 06/01/2024 15:31

Respects elders…

Is this a racist dog whistle for “is Sikh or Muslim”?

Falkenburg · 06/01/2024 15:35

Most likely outcome -

Dangerous driver

It really isn't that clear... I have no idea what community she means??

Because @JenniferJuniper80 has a sad and lonely life and is bitter and twisted.

Falkenburg · 06/01/2024 16:09

Jennifer Juniowr was right though!

The most likely outcome is that the dad will answer the door and say ODFOD!

RobertaFirmino · 06/01/2024 16:26

JenniferJuniper80 · 06/01/2024 14:47

Do you understand what ODFOD means?

Yes, it means 'Oh do fuck off dear'. Coincidentally, that's just the advice I am giving to you.

enchantedsquirrelwood · 06/01/2024 16:42

Does Jennifer drive an Audi dangerously?

But anyway OP no, don't do this. Log it with the police.
