12 year old and noticed this. It looks like a patch. I’m really worried. I will speak to GP on Monday

Is it the little dark horizontal line?

Pushmepullyou · 05/01/2024 22:23

Hi, can’t see the pic. Can you try and post it again?

Pushmepullyou · 05/01/2024 22:24

Ah I see it now. Looks like a small bruise?

FourEyesGood · 05/01/2024 22:24

The lighting on the photo makes it hard to tell. Could be bruising; could just be shadow; could be some sort of stretch marks from a growth spurt.

Dynamoat · 05/01/2024 22:24

Looks like bruising to me. Either someone's had their hands round her neck or she's walked into something.

Createausername1970 · 05/01/2024 22:24

That's a long neck! I can't really see what you mean though.

FishTheRiver · 05/01/2024 22:26

Has she tried washing it? (Not that I'm saying its dirty)

MrsBubblegum · 05/01/2024 22:26

Could it be from a seatbelt?

thaegumathteth · 05/01/2024 22:27

Why are you worried?

IDontLoveTheWayYouLie · 05/01/2024 22:27

I guess you mean the blob thing? Looks like a bruise.

lunar1 · 05/01/2024 22:27

It looks like someone has had their hands on her neck, there are at least 2 bruises.

SilverBranchGoldenPears · 05/01/2024 22:28

I used to get similar from the pulling my heavy school bag over my head. I was always bruising my neck by it. I did know however that this is what I had done. I’m surprised that your dd would t know if this is what happened.

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 05/01/2024 22:28

Honestly if my kid showed me that I'd give it a scrub to see if it came off and look again in a week to see if it had gone.

Falkenburg · 05/01/2024 22:28

Looks like grime from wearing cheap jewellery.

AlwaysForksAndMarbles · 05/01/2024 22:31

Looks like either dye from a piece of clothing or a mark from jewellery. Does it hurt at all? Or itch? I’d start by rubbing with a soapy flannel or something else which is slightly abrasive to see if it comes off.

PattyDuckface · 05/01/2024 22:34

dye from a rollneck

give it a scrub and see

hotmailgmailoutlook · 05/01/2024 22:36

She does not wear neck jewellery and really good with hygiene, taking shower etc. she is going through growth spurt. Skin also looks dry under the patch but patch colour is unusually dark. I have no concerns about someone hurting her etc. It's the sudden appearance.

OP posts:
hotmailgmailoutlook · 05/01/2024 22:38

she is off from a school for more than 10 days so can't be school bag.

OP posts:
thaegumathteth · 05/01/2024 22:38

But why are you worried?

JustGotToKeepOnKeepingOn · 05/01/2024 22:41

It looks like a burst blood vessel.

hotmailgmailoutlook · 05/01/2024 22:45

It's the skin change. I am looking for reassurance to stop worrying about skin cancer etc. Patch look really unusual. I will try to take another photo tomorrow. I will speak to GP in the morning. she is also having lots of nose bleeds which I put it to dry air in the house etc. Now this, freaks me out

Icannoteven · 05/01/2024 22:46

Love bite? Marks from silver jewellery? Caught her neck in the clasp of her bike helmet?

Allfortheloveofabiscuit · 05/01/2024 22:49

She might be showering, but is she actively washing her neck? If it doesnt come off, I would assume it is a bruise.
However if you're very worried, alongside the nosebleeds if theyre new and you're sure she isn't picking or rubbing the end of her nose roughly when it's itchy, then see about talking to a gp for peace of mind

This is not a proportionate reaction at all. Do you have anxiety? This wouldn't even cross my mind as a concern.

The nosebleeds - yeah try and see if GP can help. Sometimes they can give you a cream.
