Birthdays

Its my Birthday today, I have always had mixed feelings about it, on the one hand it's not the best time of the year to have a birthday, and on the other hand, its supposed to be a time of celebration. I love to give cards and gifts to friends and family on their Birthday but I feel anxious about receiving.

I have had a card from my partner.... and we are going on a trip in a couple of weeks when it is his birthday. But that is all, and I feel really down about it.

Does anyone else suffer from the Birthday Blues? Or have mixed emotions?

I decided a long time ago the only person I would rely on for my birthday was me – an excuse to completely treat myself guilt free.

Do your favourite things, even if that’s wearing pjs all day and watching films in bed. Eat what you want. Start drinking mimosas at breakfast. Buy whatever it is you’ve had your eye on. You should make the day all about you.

I always get the birthday blues, wether I have something nice planned or not.
I think it’s the idea that I’m supposed to be having a great time, it’s too much pressure. And I’m not one for making a fuss/having a big celebration. I think it does help to have something booked like a nice meal and keep expectations low because really, when you’re an adult, no one’s that bothered it’s your birthday, the day really isn’t that special and that’s totally fine.
